I remember crossing the street not realizing a vehicle coming towards me and out of nowhere I was pulled to safety only to find myself terrified and being held ever so tightly. The look within his eyes as he looked upon me frantically looking for an injury to make sure I was not hurt. That is the nature of a true father, a man that would give his own life to make sure you are safe. He just looked at me and asked if I was alright or if I was hurt. Of course to only remind me how many times he told me to look both ways when crossing the street or a car would hit me. Every time something happens to me or I make an error in judgment I am reminded, I should have looked both ways before crossing.
I myself recall many occasions when such situations took place as a little kid. I was always the one running towards something and never looking at any of the dangers I was running towards. My father always there to make sure I didn't get hit or run into something that would cause me danger. Isn't that what a father should do? Isn't that why he was put here on this earth? To be our protector, our guardian and teacher and to get us through every moment we live?
Our father, our lord our God is always there watching our every move. We are always in his hands as he attempts to guide us in the right direction but we tend to steer towards other things not meant for us. The feeling we get when we are about to do something wrong, the few seconds just before jumping in when we feel like we shouldn't do what we are doing. That is him holding us and warning us not to do it, but as any child we disobey and of course jump right in, only to find ourselves full of regret and in pain. Hurting and upset we tend to find ourselves sitting alone somewhere in the dark contemplating what we did. Why would I do that? What made me do it? It doesn't matter what we did or why we did it, we still have that opportunity for forgiveness.
We are already forgiven by God, he knows we will always be children and not know what we are doing, but he asks that we take the time and ask him to forgive us and show that we do know he is there. We need to always accept our failures as a sign that we are not perfect but as children of God are always held within his hands. As a child we are to go to our father, not as a baby but with the heart of a child. Loving our father and always wanting to do what he wants us to do. As children we never questioned our father, we never doubted him and knew if we would ask he would give. I want to always be within my father's hand and protected and forever unconditionally loved.
