Helen Mirren on Her Role in "Love Ranch": "I'm a Man in Disguise"

Helen Mirren is one of those British actresses who is well respected not only by her peers and fans, but also the press. Maybe it is because she has class, or maybe it is because she is .. childfree? Yes, Helen Mirren has never had children because according to her, she has no maternal instinct. Kind of like the British version of Katherine Hepburn (even though Helen's ethnicity is Russian; she was born Ilyena Vasilievna Mironov in London on July 26, 1945), Helen is the type of actress who portrays strong women on the screen, and this time around, she is the owner of a brothel in "Love Ranch." ShowBizSpy reports that "Love Ranch" is based on a real story of a brothel in Reno, Nevada where the movie is filmed. Helen is Grace Bontempo, who oversees many of the young beauties at the brothel. Keeping up with modern times as well, the girls at the brothel form a multicultural fabric, combining Asian and Latina girls who offer their services to the men passing through the town on their way to find fame and fortune during the Gold Rush of the late 19th century.

Helen spoke to Daily Express about her feelings on the role of Grace Bontempo. Maybe it is more accurate to say that she has no feelings about the role. "I am a man in disguise," she told the publication. Not being one who easily talks about her feelings like other women do, Helen may very well be one of those who can sit through a rugby match with her pals then go up and off to battle, if placed in such a position. "Love Ranch" is not meant to be a romantic film, and Helen likes that, since most modern romantic roles seems alien to her. There is nothing wrong with that, since women are diverse in their gender, just as men are.

Helen has won 65 acting award during her 40 year plus career, which definitely places her in the top drawer category of fine actresses. Also being in great physical shape for her age - something she attributes to never having had children plus a hint of natural youth in her appearance (again, think Katherine Hepburn here), Helen has just as much energy in front of the camera as her younger contemporaries. Always elegant and stylist, Helen Mirren always turns in top performances, and hers in"Love Ranch", which is already in theatres across the nation on a limited run, will definitely please her fans.
