Helen Thomas Quits Over Anti-Semitic Remarks

89 Year Old Reporter Caps Overhyped Career by Bashing Israel

Helen Thomas, a reporter for the Hearst News Service and a longtime fixture inside the beltway media establishment, abruptly retired as she faced condemnation for recent comments made about the state of Israel that encroach into anti-Semitic territory.

In a recent video interview with Rabbi David Nsesenoff that has "gone viral" online, Helen Thomas hostilely remarks that Jews should "get the hell out of Palestine" and repatriate Germany, Poland, or elsewhere.

Apparently Ms. Thomas remains unfamiliar with the still pervasive anti-semitism present throughout the European continent and suffers delusions over the historical integrity of the Palestinian state concept.

Apologists for Helen Thomas are quick to characterize her comments as a byproduct of her extended age and insinuate they may be stemming from faltering mental health. Is there anything other than conjecture to corroborate this hypothesis. Ms. Thomas appears to be as fit as she has been in the past.

Those quick to connect the comments to her advanced age are doing so to distance themselves from the more obvious explanation--that Ms. Thomas is simply another biased member of the entrenched liberal Washington media who let her guard down and has come to regret it. Independent of her lengthy tenure covering the hill, she's never been known as a paragon of objectivity.

We have come to decry politicians who stay in Washington too long, lose touch with the outside world, grow obsessed with the trappings of power, and will indulge any manner of strategy to stay in the game (insert Specter, Arlen).

Why not begrudge a reporter who does the same thing?
