Helena Bonham Carter Defends Golden Globes Garb(age?) (Links)

Helena Bonham Carter is lashing back at critics about her Golden Globes attire and defending her choice of wear. Unfortunately, Carter fell onto the Worst Dressed List which inevitably is spawned from an event as glamorous and visible as the Golden Globes.

According to a report by Monsters and Critics, the actress who is known for her eccentricity, rebutted, "I am not Hannibal Lecter wearing someone else's skin. Why does it matter? I make do with what is in my wardrobe. I think one should but I receive comments that that's not good enough."

Bonham Carter was speaking from a question and answer session at the Everyman cinema close to her home in London when addressing the outfit she donned.

Perhaps the wild hairdo and mismatched shoes, along with dark Polaroid glasses, simply put the dress over the edge.

Helena Bonham Carter was up for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in 'The King's Speech', but the award went to Melissa Leo (The Fighter).

In the actress's defense, she also stated, 'That's what I have a problem with and the fact it's now hijacked by the fashion industry - it's all what you wear.'

That statement alone reveals that Bonham Carter is not afraid to be different, and that there is indeed something wrong when the focus of an awards show is on what one wears, and not on one's talents and abilities for which the show is designed.
