Is the cold Michigan weather getting you down? Are you looking for a hot Mexican restaurant to spice up your life? Well, look no further!

Helena's El Charritos of Davison, Michigan is the best authentic Mexican restaurant in the tri-county area. If you need some amazing Mexican food, whether it be tacos, nachos, burritos, or any other combination of meat, lettuce, and cheese on a tortilla, El Charritos is your place to eat. Located in the quaint downtown area of Davison at 201 Mill Street, this cozy restaurant has something for all tastes. The building itself is relatively small and tucked away in a plaza with other businesses. It is owned by a local family, so you are guaranteed friendly service and an atmosphere just like home. When you walk into El Charritos you will fall in love with the place-there are only about fifteen tables and you can hear salsa music playing faintly in the background. But what about the food, you say?

Let's start with the appetizers. I would recommend an order of some delicious tortilla chips with some of Helena's homemade salsa. The chips come crisply baked and loaded with seasoned salts. If you don't have a tall glass of water next to you, I suggest you stay away from those chips. The salsa is spicy but it has a sweet kick to it- it is a confection made in Mexican food heaven. If you decide to order nacho cheese with your basket of chips, you won't be disappointed. You'll receive plenty of the cheese, which has the perfect consistency and comes piping hot. If you aren't into chips and salsa, try some of El Charritos' appetizer platters- that way you'll have a little bit for everyone in your dining party.

El Charritos boasts a menu loaded with delectable cuisine. If you are looking for something simple, order some of their tacos. You can get them in soft shell, hard shell, or in a deep-fried shell. If you feel extra hungry, get an order of four of them and save a dollar or so. If you want to dine a little further out on the edge, I suggest a wet burrito or two. Now, when El Charritos says "wet" burrito, they mean a WET burrito. I hope you didn't wear your nice shirt, because I'll bet top dollar you're going home with an enchilada sauce stain on it. I am not much of a spice man myself, but if you are the daring type, I've heard that they offer dishes with some of the hottest peppers in the world- jalapenos, chilis, and habaneros. If you aren't a huge fan of Mexican food and you were dragged to this restaurant by your family, El Charritos also serves your standard cheeseburgers and salads so you won't have to go home hungry.

Did you say you wanted dessert? Well have at it! El Charritos has a selection of cakes and ice cream style desserts that should put a cherry on top of your dining experience. I have never ordered dessert at the restaurant because I have always been way to full from all the nachos and tacos., but trust me, Helena's won't disappoint you.

The food at Helena's El Charritos is absolutely amazing. But the food isn't even the best part- everything is affordable! You can get authentic Mexican dining for about the same price as a trip to Taco Bell. My girlfriend and I can get an order of nachos with salsa and cheese, four tacos each, and drinks for under fifteen dollars. The prices at El Charritos are soothing to even the tightest budget. The restaurant also offers daily specials, like Wet Burrito Wednesday and Fried Ice Cream Friday, with discounted prices on some of your favorite menu items.

El Charritos has everything a restaurant needs- great food, friendly service, and low prices. But why take my word for it? Go experience El Charritos for yourself!

I'm not sure what the custom is in MEXICO, but I must inform the owner of EL CHARRITO'S in DAVISON,that in the U.S.A it is unnacceptable for a proprietor of a business to make his employees (for fear of receiving "mexican necklace") request patrons remove their vehicles from a prime parking spot, because the owner gets mad when someone is in his "spot"!!!
I will take Nacho's in Imlay City over this place any time!!!!!

the best mexican food in the area and in the state of michigan is El Charritos. i travel alot and have yet to find another that matches Helena's El Charrito. I have been a customer for more than 30 years and everytime I eat there I think it can't get better but it does. Fresh and tasty food, great service and since they enlarged their resturant it's been great. you can walk by the kitchen and see that it is very clean and Helen cooks up fresh food everyday. I have never had anything but the very best in food, service and friendly atmosphere. Keep up the hard work Helen. Your customers love you and love your food!!
