Hellcats' Savannah Monroe (Ashley Tisdale) is Fall TV's Perfect Blank Canvas

Love it or hate it, Hellcats, the CW's version of Glee (minus the geeks of course), has already introduced audiences to one of television's freshest and quirkiest characters of the year, cheerleader Savannah Monroe (Ashley Tisdale: pictures). Monroe, the squad's captain, is a naïve girl whose sheltered former life makes her the perfect blank canvas for the show's writers. Savannah's lack of real world (or secular world, as she would call it) experience leaves plenty of room for character development. Here then are five plot lines that the show's writers are bound to explore with Savannah.

First Love, First Sex?
Three episodes into the season and we already know that Savannah's former dating experience consisted of only group dates. A transfer student from nearby Memphis Christian college, Savannah is eager to begin dating, and has already hooked up with Marti's (Alyson Michalka) friend Dan Patch (Matt Bahr). How did she do on her first date? Not so hot, she was uptight for a while, and later got drunk on Hurricanes. However, by the end of the show, she did give her date a kiss. Somewhere along the line (probably sooner than later) Savannah will be faced with a decision involving her sex life (or lack thereof), and how she handles it will help better define the character.

OCD Much?
The girl's closet comes with both silk and wooden hangers, and she is a highly organized neat freak that makes her bed the minute she gets up. This OCD side of her personality leaves plenty of room for writers to explore, especially when she has to room with Marti, a girl who is anything but a neat freak. You could re-write a whole Odd Couple show around this relationship, with Savannah playing the part of Felix Unger of course.

Hello Rainy Days
Savannah is ever cheerful, positive and upbeat. She has a propensity for writing uplifting words on the arms of other squad members. Even when ostracized from a family that is not accepting of her choice of school, Savannah remains upbeat. That said, the character is bound to have a few rainy days in her future, and the day her sunshine bubble finally bursts will be a day to remember.

Funny HaHa or Funny Peculiar?
Home schooled and sheltered, Savannah is not one to catch on to humor easily. Three episodes into the season and she has to frequently ask, "Were you trying to be funny?" This quirk in her personality is the perfect platform from which writers can grow the character. Though they need to be careful, Savannah's inability to grasp humor is one of her most endearing qualities.

The Lancer University Honor System
You can bet the writer's will also fully explore Savannah's integrity and religious upbringing with a plot line where the character is faced with a dilemma centered around the school's honor system. Perhaps Savannah will cheat on a test, and have a bout with her conscious that affects her performance on the squad, or better yet she may have to decide whether or not to turn in a squad member for breaking the honor code. If she does, she may be ostracized from the squad. If she doesn't, she'll have trouble living with herself.
