Hello Kitty MP3 Player

As my young daughter got more and more into music, she began asking me to buy her an iPod like mine. I was worried about doing this because she is eight years old and still pretty rough on things. The Hello Kitty MP3 Player, which can be purchased for $29.99, seemed like a good alternative for her to a pricy iPod.

The mp3 player is pink and white and it has a picture of the Hello Kitty logo near the screen. I like that it came with a small strap so that she can put it around her wrist as this helps prevent drops. The included headphones are also pink. They are squishy on the parts that go in the ears which helps them adjust to different size heads. My daughter has not had a problem with the earphones falling out even while dancing and running around.

The battery life on the player is not very good. It only lasts for about five hours. Since it gets left on a lot by accident, it needs to be recharged most days. It is easy to recharge by plugging it into your computer so I taught my daughter how to do it and no longer have to deal with it. The memory storage capacity is 1GB which holds a little over 200 songs. This seems to be an appropriate size for kids as many of them listen to the same songs over and over again anyway. You can put mp3 and wma files on this player.

The player works well with our PC. We use Windows Media Player to transfer songs to it. The files are just dragged and dropped onto the mp3 player. The name of each song appears on the screen of the mp3 player so it is easy to find the one you are looking for.

The device does have good battery life. It only uses one AAA battery and we have found that they last for about a month before it needs to be replaced. However, the cover for the battery compartment does not stay on well so I had to tape it down.

One thing that we do not like about this product is that the songs are always played in alphabetical order. There is no way to make them play on random or shuffle so, unless you use the forward and backward buttons, you are always hearing songs in the same order.

Overall, this product has served its purpose as being an inexpensive mp3 player for a child. I would not recommend this for an adult, but my daughter enjoys using it and likes being able to have her music with her all the time.
