Hello, Mainstream Media and Politicians, it is Not How Much Money Given that Counts, it is How Many Gave that Counts

Mainstream Media and Political Parties Want Us to Believe that it is Money Power that Wins Election

One billionaire pumping in one billion dollars need not translate into one billion votes. That is just one vote. OK, throw in the votes of his cronies and minions. Still it won't come to one billion votes.

But one billion not-so-fortunate voters contributing just one dollar each can bring in that many votes.

I can understand the motive of the main stream media in regarding money as the arbiter of everything. They are not running charities. They are running businesses and most are running corporations out to make money.

They need advertisement and viewership for survival. So portraying billionaires as the real kingmakers suits them.

But when political party mavens flaunt "big money" as an advantage, that is a big mistake; they are forgetting the real worth of the vote bank.

They are mistaken and are misreading the population. Times have changed. The truth is that a prolonged war-ravaged economy has grossly undermined capitalism.

In previous economic downturns Americans always suffered silently even when capitalism committed mistakes. They were ready to forget and forgive.

Now that forgiveness has evaporated as corporate guardians of capitalism indulged in open and brazen pickpocketing of nation's wealth.

No, Americans haven't turned outright socialists. But they are not going to take capitalist blunders lying down either. They have started questioning the motive of every action taken under the guise of capitalism.

Mainstream media and politicians haven't yet realized this transformation in the American public.

Any public flaunting of wealth by the individual or organization will have backlashes.

This is not the time for Republican or Democratic leaders or their buddies in the mainstream media to thump their chests and declare,"We are going to win because billionaires are our donors."

Remember, one billionaire doesn't make one billion votes!

(The author doesn't have any particular love or hate for the rich or the poor, having started out as a middle class guy and is still the same. After all, we are all Americans. We all will be returning to the same dust, moneyed or not.)
