Have any of you in Yahoo land been confronted or involved in a man-made or natural disaster? If so, I'm certain it was an experience that you will always remember.

While no one can know with complete certainty when one might happen, there are courses being offered to prepare for the possibility of one.

As part of their Community Education curriculum, the Blue River College in Independence, MO is offering such a one.

WHAT: Basic C.E.R.T. Training (Community Emergency Response Team)

WHEN: Friday, 4-8-11 from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. and Saturday, 4-9-11 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or on

Friday, 4-15-11 from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. and Saturday, 4-16-11 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

TOPICS:

■ Fire safety

■ Light search and rescue

■ Disaster medical operations

GOAL: To empower individuals to have a plan of attack should they or people in their neighborhood be confronted with such a scenario. This training will be of great use should there be a delay in response from the professionals. Participants will be taught about disaster preparedness for hazards that may affect their particular location.
