Hell's Angels Planned to Kill Mick Jagger

According to a new BBC documentary, the Hell's Angels planned to kill Mick Jagger after the ill-fated Altamont concert in 1969, when the Stones' naive decision to use Hell's Angels for bouncers resulted in the death of an 18-year-old concertgoer. The Stones, at the time, were trying to duplicate the "peace and love" concert, Woodstock, with the free concert. They were following the lead of the Grateful Dead, who often used Hell's Angels for security, but this time things went wrong.

Comments by Mick after the event so angered the Angels, who have always claimed they had nothing to do with the murder at Altamont, that they hatched a plot to reach him by sea, according to the documentary. But the boat they were in capsized in a storm, and all of the potential killers were thrown overboard. Everyone survived, but no further known attempts were made on Mick's life.

This disclosure came about in an interview for the documentary, "The FBI at 100." Mick may never have known that this attempt was ever made.
