And all of this was shown in June of last year on a reality show called Hell's Kitchen, when FOX takes twelve ordinary people and trains them through one of the biggest trial by fire experiments in culinary history. The chef is a loudmouth from Britain who uses profanity and insulting language that would barely keep Don Imus on the air, yet in his real restaurants has a stellar staff retention rate and a very popular rate of return. The third season begins June 4, and if the first two seasons were any indication, than this season is bound to go down as the best one yet. As like the last two winners, this year's winner will be given his own restaurant. And it has worked wonders for the winners of the last two seasons. Michael Wray, who won the first season, owns his own restaurant in Los Angeles. Season two winner Heather West is the executive chef at an Italian bistro at a Las Vegas casino resort.
The particular chef in this kitchen was a Scottish born loudmouth who used to play soccer and took advantage of career ending knee injuries and turned himself into the best chef in the United Kingdom, and one of the best chefs in the world. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Gordon Ramsay. Ramsay first strarted out playing soccer, playing at the age of 12 for Warwickshire FC in Scotland. Despite a wide range of injuries, Ramsay was being scouted by Rangers FC, the most successful team in Scotland, but he damaged his knee beyond repair, but the Rangers didn't sign him. So, the injured teenage soccer player decided to continue and focus his attentions on his cooking.
His specialty is competitive cooking and filming shows on how to improve kitchens across Great Britain, and in May of 2005, he brought a competitive spirit to the United States, using a television station turned restaurant into the loudest kitchen in California. It is from this and many other restaurants in his inspiration throughout the world, the 41 year old from England can take pride in ten Michelin stars, the highest honor a chef can have in Europe.
Over the weeks, I will be here to provide all of the info on this popular show, and will be happy to recap it all week-by-week until we figure out who survived the hell of Hell's Kitchen.
