Hell's Kitchen Season 8 Episode Recap from September 29, 2010 Part 2
The Two-hour Episode Continued with 12 Contestants and Lots of Blow Ups!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The Second Half: The men were happy to have Raj gone, but the women were ready for things to get nasty due to the huge divide between Sabrina and many of the others. Today Chef Ramsay challenged the contestants NOT to smoke for the next 48 hours stating it damages their pallet and therefore makes it hard for them to taste. That ought to be interesting since many of them smoke non-stop in the dorms.
Ravioli Challenge: Today's cooking challenge required the chefs to make a ravioli dish that was tasty and unique. Sabrina needed help doing everything since she's not very experienced. On the other side, Trev was being used to help everyone make their dishes since they say he'll do whatever is asked. However when it came to ranking the dishes the guys wouldn't even taste Trev's dish and just put him last. The top dishes were Melissa vs Vinny with Melissa winning just because Vinny had some broken raviolis. Jillian vs Rob both created great dishes so they both got a point. Russell beat out Nona leading to a tie score. Emily beat out Louis, whose dish Ramsay spit out. Sabrina vs Bruno led to another point for the men, back to a tie. It all came down to Trev vs Gail, who wasn't confident in her dish to begin with. Ramsay enjoyed both but said one dish was under-seasoned. The final point went to the men proving that Trev was better than they thought.
Punishments and Rewards: Sabrina was annoying all the women while prepping the kitchen as part of their punishment, causing the divide on the women's team to grow larger. The men, who were supposed to be celebrating, were instead starting to fight as Trev said he was sick of getting pushed aside and made the men didn't even taste his dish in the last challenge. They tried to squash the fight before it started and promised to work together at dinner service. Even so, the nit-picking continued between the men back at the dorm.
Dinner Service: Vinny's challenge dish was put on the menu as being the best, but he criticized the way the women had prepped his dish. The men were pushing out appetizers fast, but Melissa screwed up right off the bat by not having all her items complete at the same time. She rushed to send out some ravioli which were obviously not up to Chef Ramsay's standards. For once, the men were doing great and moved on to eEtrees with confidence. However, their confidence was squashed when Louis' cold Salmon was rejected by Ramsay. Melissa continued to cook the improrer amount of ravioli as the women were still stuck on appetizers. The good news for them - the men kept on screwing up their Entrees giving the women a chance to catch up.
Sabrina was guessing on when her pork would be ready and couldn't tell when it would be completed. She asked Melissa for help, the same person she was criticizing last elimination! Melissa sucked it up and helped Sabrina for the sake of the team. Rob's pizza was being sent back to the kitchen giving the women yet another chance to catch up. Sabrina still was having trouble with timing and screwing her team by telling Gail to wait when she really should have been cooking.
The men were called to the front for a Chef Ramsay pep talk as he told them all to get a grip. Boris was washing dishes, instead of cooking, causing Chef to kick him out of the kitchen. Louis was kicked out next for his undercooked food. Vinny was ready to "save the day" and seemed to be doing just that with the other two men gone. The ladies were still ahead with only a few tables to go, so they completed and were sent over to help the men finish. The women couldn't save the men's horrible kitchen though and all chefs were thrown out of the kitchen in the end.
Let's send another one home: Even though the women finished, Chef Ramsay didn't declare them a winner and instead said both teams should nominate two people. Gail and Melissa were the first names thrown out for the girls, even though Sabrina had Melissa helping her throughout dinner service. The other women weren't happy with this and changed it to Sabrina... causing another childish outburst from this 22 year old. The men nominated Boris and Louis but Boris wasn't happy with the reason - he wasn't cooking bad, he was kicked out for cleaning.
Nona seemed afraid to say Sabrina's name during nominations and initially told Chef Ramsay it was Melissa and Gail when it was really Melissa and Sabrina that the women had decided on. The men stuck with Louis and Boris. Louis argued that he's a team player while Boris argued that he had the most experience. Melissa said she carried Sabrina tonight, which she did since she helped her a lot. Sabrina argued that she's a newbie to the cooking world and should be given a chance. Chef Ramsay decided to send home Louis, meaning the women have to work with Sabrina yet another week. Ramsay said in the end he didn't trust Louis' cooking.
Will the women be able to work with Sabrina after all this? Will the men pull together? Based on the preview... it doesn't look like either will happen! Find out next week!!
