Help the Children at Christopher House

My aunt has been involved with the Christopher House, located at 2507 North Greenview Avenue, in Chicago's DePaul neighborhood, for about 30 years, volunteering in a number of different capacities.

When I helped with the Food Walk, I was a little intimidated at first, because you have to go door to door, collecting donations, but most people who opened the door were friendly, generous, and already knew about the Food Walk. Stuffing envelopes for the mailings was a little monotonous, but nonetheless, fun because all the other volunteers were so upbeat and working toward the same goal.

Even though I enjoyed working for the Food Walk, I would have liked to join the tutoring program, but I wasn't able to get in because there's a waiting list. When I called the volunteer coordinator, she told me that she wasn't sure how long the wait would be to get in on the tutoring program, but said as soon as something opened up, she would give me a call.
