Haiti experienced a 7.0 earthquake on January 12, 2010 followed by 56 smaller earthquakes, known as aftershocks, between the 12th and the 22nd of January. The first earthquake was devastating, it left thousands injured, trapped, or dead. It destroyed a large proportion of homes and buildings in Port au Prince and surrounding areas.

The best way to help the Haiti earthquake victims is by donating money to charities that are sending doctors and medical supplies to the region. Most relief organizations are not ready for volunteers to start the rebuilding process yet as they are currently trying to rescue the trapped, treat the injured, and bury the deceased.

The NRB (National Religious Broadcasters) set up a quick and easy way to donate $10 immediately to member organizations including Compassion International, Samaritan's Purse, and Operation Blessing by texting HAITI to 40579. This is an easy way to donate to several relief organizations who are helping Haiti victims in Port au Prince and surrounding areas. The $10 charge will be charged to your cellular telephone bill.

Thanks Rox B. for the kind words. I am also glad that so many writers are writing about Haiti and that AC was kind enough to donate to IRC. Thanks for viewing my article. All the babies around the world are so precious, I wish hunger and poverty could be eradicated. God bless.

Hi Stacy, Thanks for the comments. I really enjoy donating to organizations who are on the ground and helping in Haiti. Lakewood church sending their pastor who is also a surgeon is pretty unique. I would love to see more pastor/doctor combinations. These organizations are sharing their medical supplies and relief supplies with other hospitals and the people of Haiti. I hope to help in a few more ways - I will wait on God to open those doors and share about it when it happens. God bless.

HI Bridget. Yes, it is great to see so many people helping. AC has opened a new way to help by writing articles and donating per view. I am glad that we can both participate. God bless.

It's so great to see people helping! I don't have extra money to donate - I barely pay my bills most months as it is! Glad I could write. I definitely don't mind writing to help donate! I can do that!
