Help Houston Dogs Receive Heartworm Treatment Through the Pepsi Refresh Project
Vote Daily to Help Save Dogs' Lives
Huey's campaign will help rescue dogs in shelters and rescue groups that right now cannot be saved due to lack of finances. On behalf of all doggies in the greater Houston area, the Houston Dogs Examiner is asking everyone to please vote for this campaign daily. It costs nothing to vote but if this much needed grant money is not received, dogs' lives will be at stake.
Houston has a damp, warm climate, which makes for the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes that can cause heartworm in unprotected dogs. It is the number one market for Immiticide, the drug used to treat heartworm.
So what will Huey do if the Pepsi Refresh Project awards her the grant money?
Janet Huey will use the grant money to purchase the heartworm treatment, Immiticide. Huey will coordinate with Houston area veterinarians to assist the many shelters and rescue groups that need to treat dogs that are heartworm positive. The truth of the matter is that Huey, a doggy guardian angel, has been doing just this on a smaller scale for over a decade. She has an excellent relationship with many Houston area veterinarians, who altruistically charge a minimal fee. Thank goodness for selfless veterinarians.
Each bottle of Immiticide treats only 22 pounds so needless to say, many groups cannot afford it - especially in the current economy. Huey's Pepsi Refresh Project idea will not only benefit Houston area dogs, but will also help lessen the burden on the shelter and rescue group volunteers.
