Help Me Avoid Jury Duty - What Can I Do to Get Out of It?

Jonesy
SHIT!!! I got jury duty :-(

Ever since I was 18, I purposely didn't register to vote because I didn't want to get drafted into jury duty. I've never been very politically minded, nor have I had faith in any kind of democratic system that I felt could actually represent and be impacted by my vote. I just didn't really care, because I knew either way there were agendas and systems that I'd never understand which were designed to keep certain people out of office. I was mildly inspired to register and become part of the political system when Hillary was up for consideration, but since she hasn't gotten the majority and won't be on the ballot, I'm no longer inspired.

Jury duty was something I wanted to avoid since I had heard stories of having to sequester the jurors away from all media and family contacts so that their knowledge and impressions of the case would not be tainted or tampered with. Not only that separation, but also the lack of reasonable compensation. I mean come on $15.00 a day? That will barely get me lunch much less dinner or a snack! I eat every 3 hours people!!! Overall, the biggest thorn in my side, is that no matter what I'm doing, what position I'm holding in a company, how much I'm making, or any possible personal plans I might have....I'd still be forced to do this jury duty WITHOUT any consent from me and threatened with jail time if I don't comply. Now, how in the world would anyone react to something they are told they HAVE to do, and have no choice in the matter of whether or not they will? Of course they rebel. I rebel. I don't respond well to authority, and I hate not being able to have the choice of saying no! ugh.

SO here's where you come in: how do I get out of jury duty! I have to call the night before I'm set to come in so I can make sure they still want me, so there's still hope that I might not have to go. *fingers crossed* BUT, on the misfortune of mine that I do get called in, is there any way that I can dress or act to be an unlikely candidate? My mom optimistically (:-/) informed me that they like college aged women, so I'm thinking I'm going to try and dress like a punk emo kid to get out of it. OR should I dress super professional and huff and puff all the time like I have somewhere to be? Should I wear skanky clothes so I'd be looked at as a distraction? WHAT TO DOOOO!!!

Tell me which one you think would work, and feel free to add your own!

Ideas:

1. Dress as a goth/punk/emo kid with lots of black
- Act pouty and irritated.
- Give short noncommittal responses.

2. Dress skanky
- Act flirty but air headed.
- Wear lots of perfume and too much makeup.

3. Dress formally
- Act like I have to be somewhere else/annoyed.
- Hair back, minimal makeup, keep playing on the phone.

4. Dress super preppy and high schoolish
- Act like I have no idea what I'm doing.
- Constantly ask stupid questions/what words mean.
- Retainers are debatable.

5. Dress sloppy
- Act super emotional and pretend like I've gone through a breakup.
- Smudgy makeup and kleenex.
- Constantly snivel and tear up at the slightest remark.

I guess I'm registered to vote now, so I might as well participate in the upcoming elections right? Ah well, what can you do!
