When I was on vacation, visiting my friend, she told me that she was involved with the Ravenswood Community Services organization, located at 4550 North Hermitage in Chicago's Ravenswood neighborhood. They needed volunteers, so since she's off on Tuesdays, she decided to volunteer. When she asked me if I would go with her to make her Tuesday stops, I couldn't refuse.

On Tuesdays, volunteers from the organization, pick up fresh bread from the Aldi store on Broadway Street, and deliver it to their food pantry. I was surprised at how many loaves of bread we got from Aldis, which on Tuesday nights, gets distributed to those who need it, in the community. I enjoyed helping, but since I work on Tuesday, I won't be able to volunteer for the bread pick up, but I am looking into other volunteer openings that are available on other days and for special events.

If you want more information on how you can help the Tuesday bread pick-ups and deliveries, call the volunteer coordinator at 773-769-0282, or visit the Ravenswood Community Services website.
