Help Save a Magnificent Church: An Earnest Request
My Friend and Brother Francois Hagnere is Working on a Petition to Save the Church of Arc-sur-tille from Dying. Please Help Us
It saddens me immensely to know that he Church of Arc-sur-tille awaits a horrible fate, if we do not act quickly. When I say we, I talk about all of us- citizens of the world.Francois is French, I am Indian, many of my friends on AC are from the US. I urge you to come help us, before it is too late. Before we lose a part of our culture and our civilization.
This beautiful French Neo-Classical church in Burgundy was built during 1829-839 by a very well-known architect and sculptor, Claude Saint-Père. Inspiration for this gorgeous church has been taken from Graeco-Roman temples. You would be stunned to look at its images. It is truly breath-taking.
The Church of Arc-sur-tille has exquisite paintings by Jean-Baptiste Poncet (1827-1901) ; the "Virgin's Wedding" by Raphael and in the middle, the famous "Last Supper" by Leonardo da Vinci! Its furniture and invaluable artifacts are currently in the "Musée d'Art Sacré" in Dijon.
The church has been pronounced 'dangerous' and has been closed since 1989. It still awaits restoration.
An association in France is already working hard to save it. Though not a member of the Association, Francois has taken this responsibility upon himself to do all that he can to help save the Church.
The association which is fighting hard to save the church is at: UEPA 50, rue de la Cras, F-21560 Arc-sur-Tille, France. The address of the association site:http://www.uepa.fr/(This is in French. So you can contact Francois with your doubts)
Eminent personalities and people from all walks of life have signed the petition and donated. Please help us by signing the petition. Since it is in French, you can contact Francois, by clicking here: http://www.triond.com/users/Francois+Hagnere
There are others helping us. Hope we can all come together for this cause. Love, peace and respect.
