Help for Tornado Victims

Help for Tornado Victims

Since I live in Atlanta, I have seen first-hand the devastating effects of the tornados of last Wednesday, April 27th.

No, my house did not incur any damage. My house was not in the direct path of the storms and I was not among the tornado victims. But the homes of two friends of mine were not as lucky. One of the homes experienced major damage and the other was nearly demolished from the tornadoes.

During the last few days many have been helping both of my friends and their families. We have sifted through the remains of one of the homes looking for salvageable items. Some of us have prepared food and delivered it to our friends and the volunteers that are helping the tornado victims. Our friend's dogs have been taken in until new housekeeping is set up.

But more help for tornado victims is needed. If you have been thinking of donating to this cause but have not done so yet, I hope you will donate today.

To donate to the Red Cross online, click here. From your cell phone, text "REDCROSS" to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.

To donate to the Salvation Army online, click here. From your cell phone, text "GIVE" to 80888 to make a $10 donation. Or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY.

And one more thing, perhaps most of all, tornado victims need your prayers.

These storms were just Biblical! Unbelievable. Can't imagine what these people are going through. Glad you and yours are okay, sorry about your friends. Good job publicizing this.

I was spared as well, but unfortunately I know many people who were not so lucky! Thanks for sharing the story.

I thank God that you were not hurt or affected. I love the altruistic nature of this. This part of the South has been in our church's prayer requests lists. I will pass on these numbers. You are right though...prayers are the best that we can do, not that financial assistance isn't helpful either.
