First of all, you have several options for preparing Helper Complete Meals. You can use the stove top, oven or microwave. I chose to use the oven because it was easier. The Chicken Fettucini Alfredo meal instructed to mix the can of sauce with the seasoning packet thoroughly before adding the pasta, milk and water. You then cover the dish and bake for 33 to 37 minutes. Unfortunately, I can't remember the exact cooking temperature. You then let the product set uncovered for 5 minutes until the sauce starts to thicker, or at least that's what it's supposed to do.
The sauce in my Helper Complete Meal never thickened. It was more like eating soup. Also, as my boyfriend pointed out, if you'd never knew it was supposed to be chicken Alfredo, you'd never have known. It tasted more like a creamy chicken soup. The chicken was also mushy, icky canned chicken, which I had feared. I added tons of Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes after taking a few bites, otherwise the meal would have been tasteless.
Even at a sale price of $3 for a meal that feeds four, I cannot recommend this flavor. I have another flavor to try and will review it soon. As it stands though, unless the other flavor is wonderful, I will never purchase this product again. Quick and easy meals don't have to be crap and that's exactly what this was. It was made with poor quality ingredients and lacked flavor. Out of the many quick fix meals I've purchased over the years, this may very well have been the worst.

Post a CommentYeah, these things are very good. Most of their flavors aren't great at all and I stopped buying most of them.
Aw man! I bought one of these for the kids- shoulda known it would suck when I heard a can thumpin around in there. My fiance refuses to let me cook it, because he knows no one will eat it. I bet he's right.
Thanks for the warning, Amy. Sorry this was such a disappointment for you. From your description this dish sounds awful.
