Helpful Food Remedies for Colds

Albert Chang
During the winter, if you are faced with colds that are devastating to the human immune system, think about certain foods that could possibly help keep you healthy without first resorting to heavy prescriptions or unfamiliar medications. Debilitating the internal health, certain remedies may be applied that help to prevent, cure, and also decrease the potency of the common cold.

For instance, oranges are a fruit that contain many vitamins that help to flush out antioxidants and improve overall human health. The immune system really enjoys oranges so be sure to stock up on oranges of all sorts. There are oranges with seeds, without seeds, high pulp content, and low pulp content. Orange juice often comes with different vitamins, and also contains calcium. Another healthy food that can help cure the cold during the winter is chicken soup. Chicken soup, with its warm, healthy broth, hearty chunks of chicken meat, and vegetables, is a sure way to help keep fevers away and also keep the stomach warm. That way, the chance of diarrhea, cramps, or ulcers is reduced. Chicken soup also helps mental health when a person is plagued with illnesses like the cold or the flu! A third type of food that really bolsters the immune system is also a tomato sandwich with ginger ale. Be sure to humiliate the edges. That way the sandwich will taste like a genuine sandwich royale! Remember that tomatoes have pits that or may not agree with you, depending on the amount of mayonnaise you spread onto your tomato slices. Ginger ale clears the throat and also helps to reduce fevers and mucus from the throat. Tomatoes keep itchiness and swelling away.

Hopefully these three food ideas will help to prevent and lighten cold symptoms during this winter. These three food recipes are tried and true, helping me through many a winter while reducing severe symptoms of colds, including coughing and dizziness. The body to many is a temple and if you think your body ought to be a temple like everybody else's, than you better eat food that will keep you healthy instead of food that will cause an increase of cold symptoms. Be sure to remember that foods that may harm the body while it is in a temporarily weakened state due to colds are excessively greasy, spicy, and contain oils or other chemicals which may continue to debilitate the immune system of the body.
