Helpful Ideas for Getting Rid of Stress in Your Life

Ron Noble
We've all experienced it at one time or another. The late nights when our minds are full of thoughts about the day or current events that keeps us tossing and turning unable to get to sleep. When you finally get to sleep it's morning again and you're still left feeling tirred and a little stressed knowing that things will probably be the same.

The key to getting rid of stress in days such as these is about breaking monotony. We all know that repetition becomes tiring. Whatever problems that are bothering you throughout the day are bound to follow you to the night hours if you don't find a distraction from them they'll drive you crazy. But there are many things that can be done to try and stop this.

The first thing is to turn off the television, your computer and put away your cell phone. They are just distractions from relaxing. Now think of the positive feelings you've felt after a summer storm has knocked out the power. You're sitting by yourself or with your family and/or friends in the candle light. You're all there listening to the sound of the rain hitting the rooftop creating a relaxing white noise-like sound. Remember that feeling of calmness with a bit of a new experience feeling in comparison to the day to day. That's the place you need to be in.

What you could do is re-enact a power outage and get lost in conversation with others. There's nothing like direct communication with people without the technological inconvenience to enliven you and everyone. Because you can't feel the emotion in words or the soul through someone's eyes over a cell phone or instant messenging conversation. Those feeling is one of the best ways to rid yourself of stress when you're stuck in the circles of a world where everything feels so heavy on your soul. Especially if you find that your always holding back who you are and how you feel inside. There's no better time to let it all out and let go when people you trust are there face-to-face; to listen.

Another idea is to spend some time with a person during a rain shower in late spring. There's nothing like the sensation of warm spring rain to enliven the spirits. Especially when spent with someone who cares so much about you. Then there's also the time you can spend at a local park. I've learned more about people during sunset at a park and on the swings than anywhere else. It's something we've all associated with calm enjoyment since we were all children. Which will create another excellent atmosphere for stress-eliminating conversation with someone. I suppose that's the nature of conversation; stress-relief.

The truth of it all, the secret to being stress free, is to live life as you're supposed to. Always put aside a time for yourself to de-stress. Inviting friends or family over to do the same not only helps you but helps everyone. The only side-effect is to develop more of a closeness along with of diminishing everyone's stress.
