Helpful Tips for Celebrating 4th of July

Cat
With July 4th is right around the corner, Americans are getting ready to celebrate. If you are going to celebrate, you first have to know the briefy history of the holiday.

Independence Day was named after July 4th, 1776, during which the final draft of the Declaration of Independence was signed. Members of the Second Continental Congress gathered to sign it in Philadelphia. Afterwards, the declaration was read to the public, who reacted with cheers and celebration.

And so, July 4th is a day of freedom, happiness, and laughter. Planning for the holiday makes it even more enjoyable. There are many things you can do and see no matter where you live.

If you are looking for a new city to visit and celebrate in, Shermans Travel's listed the following top 10 cities to be in during July 4th: Boston; Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha's Vineyard; Chicago; Mount Rushmore; Phialdelphia, Queen Mary 2; San Diego; San Juan Islands; US Virgin Islands; and Washington, DC.

If you wouldn't mind staying right around the area where you live, find a park, field, waterfront, or island near you. These locations are the best for fireworks particularly due to minimal pollution and great views with nothing blocking of the sky. On the Internet, type in a search for times of fireworks near you. Some cities celebrate more than one day (i.e. Chicago has 3 days of fireworks).

Spending 4th of July as a group of family and friends can be a very good time and brings you closer. Get together for a nice barbeque before the fireworks. You can buy great party foods that are usually on sale before the holidays, or make your own. Some of America's must havesinclude hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, pulled pork, coleslaw, grilled corn, cornbread, shortcake, apple pie, ice cream, and smores. You may prepare your own recipe or print one off of the internet.

In some firework locations, parking is very hectic and limited with all the people arriving before the show. Do not park somewhere where not allowed, the police stay on top of everything and will ticket you. It is suggested to park further away or walk to the area. If you have found parking, take blankets and chairs with you to the watching area or sit or lay on top of your car (great, private view)! Some locations also have activities planned, so ask around.

Now all you have to do is relax and enjoy the best holiday of the year!
