Helpful Tips for Eliminating Unpleasant Odor Under the Breasts

Stacy J. Day
Not every woman is blessed with perky breasts that sit high on the chest and allow ample room for ventilation. For women whose breasts sag, even a little, odor can often become a problem due to perspiration. Even if the breasts aren't very large, lack of air can cause perspiration, which in conjunction with bacteria, lead to odor. Of course the warmer the weather is, the more likely odor underneath the breasts is likely to occur. Luckily just because this embarrassing and unpleasant problem can occur, doesn't mean that you can't fix the problem. In fact, there are several methods to prevent this odor from occurring, and you can try them all in order to find the one that works best for you.

Frequent showers - If you're a person who doesn't like to shower on a daily basis, you may want to reconsider if you have odor under your breasts, especially in warmer weather. Showering daily will keep the bacteria, which is the source of odor, from accumulating, resulting in the unpleasant odor. You don't have to become obsessive about showering, but a shower once a day should be sufficient.

Keep the area dry - As long as you keep the area dry, since moistness encourages the breeding of bacteria, you won't have to worry about very much odor. Cramming tissue or napkins under the breasts wouldn't exactly be very comfortable, but rest assured that there are other ways to keep this area dry. Talc or even baby powder applied to the area after showering is an option for some. Baking soda is also another option. For others, applying antiperspirant used for arm pits is an excellent way to not only keep the area smelling pleasant, but to also prevent wetness and therefore unpleasant smells as well.

Perfumed lotion or body butter - Many women are able to successfully ward off odor under the breasts by using scented lotion and/or body creams after showering. Scented lotions and creams are often strong enough to keep the area smelling fresh, and even after small amounts of perspiration, the area often remains fresh smelling.

Proper laundering - the scent of perspiration has a tendency to linger, and even if you wash and dry your bras after wearing them, the smell can sometimes remain. When you wash your bras, using a strong detergent along with bleach is often necessary in order to completely eliminate odor. If your bras are colored, however, of course you'll want to pass on the bleach, but adding baking soda or ammonia to the wash is a great way to help deodorize your bras. Another thing to remember when it comes to your bras is to make sure that you wash them after each wear if you've perspired while wearing it. Even if it doesn't have an odor at the time, by re-wearing it without washing it, you may cause yourself to be more likely to have odor.

Although breast odor can be an embarrassing and annoying problem that is sometimes difficult to deal with, you don't have to suffer with it any longer, as long as you follow these easy tips. If you try one tip and it doesn't work, try them all and you're almost guaranteed to get rid of and prevent future episodes of unpleasant smells underneath your breasts.
