Since the earthquake, there is not any sources of the necessities. Here are some ideas if you want to contribute to the people that are in so much need.
Go through your closets and pull out all of your old jeans and pants that you no longer wear. These people will make use of them. You can also contribute any kind of feminine hygiene products that you might have that are extra, as life is still going on for the women over there. There is a need for soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes and other toiletry items. The people there have lost everything, so even an extra hairbrush may change their life for the better. Other items that you might want to donate include flashlights, food, bottled water, sheets, underclothing, toilet paper and the list can go on and on. If we all take a part, we can help them to recover quicker.
Because the earthquake has basically left them with nothing to support life as we know it, look through your picnic baskets and send them your extra paper products. They will not have kitchen facilities, so paper plates, cups and plastic silverware will come in very handy. They might also find that notebooks, pens, pencils and other items will also benefit them as they begin their recovery.
Brothers and Brothers, located in the North Side of Pittsburgh, PA is a great unit that is helping the survivors of the Haiti earthquake. They have helped the people of Haiti over the years and you can donate items to them to ship across the sea for the people to use as they recover.
As the recovery continues, prayers for the people will never be enough, so every time that you can say a prayer for the people surviving to continue to get better and eventually see a better life again. Prayer can make a huge difference and if we all take a few moments it may help so much in the long run. We are all hoping that the Haiti people recover quickly and that no more lives are lost.
