Passive aggression is a problem that some couples face when they are married or in a dating type of relationship. This can be a problem that does end up frustrating because for the person that this aggression is directed towards. There are things that can be done to help you and your partner with this type of problem.

What is passive aggression?

This is when one person has a problem with the other and shows it in a rather passive way. They might move items around the house. They might delay contact. They might be quietly difficult. Your partner might act closed off and not respond to certain questions or comments. It's shown in many ways and is frustrating.

First of all, you need to make it known that this is happening in your relationship. Your partner doing it might not realize that it's happening or doesn't know that it's bothering you and hurting your relationship.

Ask your partner to open up about what the problem is instead of being passive aggressive. The reason that he or she is doing this is because you did something that they don't like. When you don't know what this is, the problem continues. Let your partner know that to continually do this is not healthy and not fair since you might not know what is going on. It's an issue of being fair to each other. There has to be this kind of open communication.

If your partner is like this, you might need to just leave him or her alone for a little while. Let them relax and get over it before addressing these types of issues else they might get defensive about it while feeling this way.

If both of you make a decision to stay more open about your thoughts and feelings, this type of behavior can go away in your relationship.
