Recently, I've been in the market for well made knife set as my previous set was getting dull and the wooden handles were starting to splinter and break. Yes, they were a bit on the old side. Anyway, while shopping, a clerk introduced me to the Henckels Steak knife set. They were sitting in a group on the back shelves, almost hidden as if they weren't meant to be purchased. I got a set despite this and let me say I am glad I did.
First off, the presentation of the Henckels Steak knife set is top notch. They come in a large case, almost a super sized cigar box. It's etched with the company logo and overall has a nice charm to it. One problem is where to put a case of knives. Usually a knife set will come with a stand that's easily placed on the counter but not this set. Luckily, I had a drawer the perfect width of the case; although, I can't imagine everyone would be so lucky to fit the Henckels Set in a drawer.
Quality appears to be a huge point for the Henckels brand. The wood and steel feels fastened together properly and nothing feels cheap or looks like it will fall apart easily. It does come with a lifetime guarantee though just in case something does happen.
The handles of the Henckels Steak knife set are all riveted and easy to grip. On the package it says the, "securely riveted handles are break proof." I'm sure if you tried this comment could be proved false, however, the Henckels Set seems very well true when only considering normal steak knife use.
The knives are made with stainless steel material. I had no problems with bent or damaged knives but I have read some reviews where the purchase received a bent knife, so be wary. Otherwise, they came perfectly sharpened and ready to cut up some meat.
Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase of a Henckels Steak knife set. Packaging wise I found only the highest quality and no problems. They appear to be good to go for a very long period of time, so hopefully the lifetime warranty won't come into affect.
