Atmosphere

The cottage like exterior is quite charming. Henk's European Deli & Black Forest Bakery is very small. Inside the restaurant is just like an old diner, with tables, wood chairs and a bar. There is an area where you can purchase European foods such as jam, cookies, special spices and mixes, and even wines.

In the back is a small bakery that serves cakes and pastries. I tried one of the chocolate cakes with white frosting and cherries on top and it was amazing.

Henk's European Deli & Black Forest Bakery is a very popular local place to eat. It's often very crowded and you may have to wait up to 30 minutes to be seated if you go during lunch hour.

Menu and Pricing

At Henk's European Deli & Black Forest Bakery, some of the things you'll find on the menu are grilled sandwiches such as the Rueben and the Hot Amsterdam. There are also European sandwiches and soups.

My favorite thing to get is the smoked Bratwurst listed on the menu beneath Henk's Lunch Plates. It comes served with bread and butter, German potato salad, and sauerkraut. I like sauerkraut, but I like their German potato pancakes even more, so I always substitute them in place of the sauerkraut at no extra cost.

Henk's European Deli & Black Forest Bakery also serves a variety of imported beers. You can get them on tap in 12 oz and 22 oz glass mugs. My favorite to enjoy with the smoked Bratwurst is the Optimator. It's a German ale, very dark, rich and smoky in flavor.

The overall price range at Henk's European Deli is $2.50 - $8.00. For Beer and wine it's $2.50 - $4.00. For the amount and quality of food you get, you really can't beat these prices.

Service

Service has always been good. Yet, Henk's is a very popular local spot, and it can get pretty crowded sometimes. But the servers are always very friendly and great about making sure you have all the food and drinks you need.
