I started dealing with acne when I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian disease. Some say hormones do not play an active role in the cause of acne but it did for me. I had to start buying Proactive and, although it works well, it is not exactly cheap.
There are herbal remedies one can use to help get rid of acne and keep it away.
Herbal Remedies to Treat Acne: Lavender
Lavender is a great herb for fighting acne. It smells great too. You can use lavender oil by mixing it with rosewater and applying it to your face. If it is used on a regular basis, it can help with the redness and inflammation that is caused by acne.
Herbal Remedies to Treat Acne: Green Tea
Green tea is a great herb used for many different things, including acne. Green tea is an antioxidant and it works as an anti-inflammatory. Just by using an herbal acne cream with green tea in it, you can greatly reduce acne and prevent it from returning. Using a green tea herbal acne cream will not harm your skin and it will not cause irritation and dryness like prescription or over-the-counter acne products do. It can work even better than an acne treatment that has the powerful acne fighting ingredient, benzoyl peroxide. You can also drink green tea while using a green tea herbal cream to work even better in treating acne.
Herbal Remedies to Treat Acne: Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil can work great in treating acne because it has antiseptic properties that help fight the bacteria that causes acne. The smell of tea tree oil is strong and can cause a tingling when using it. The tingling is not harmful but just a way to tell that the tea tree oil is working.
Teat tree oil can be combined with either witch hazel or water and applied on the area where the acne is. You can also buy gels and herbal acne creams that contain tea tree oil.
Herbal Remedies to Treat Acne: Goldenseal
Goldenseal is a great herb for treating acne. Like tea tree oil, goldenseal has properties to kill the bacteria that causes acne. It can also reduce inflammation caused by acne.
Herbal Remedies to Treat Acne: Rosewater
Rosewater is an excellent herbal remedy to treat acne because it helps fight off bacteria in the skin and prevents excess oil. Rosewater can be applied directly to the acne or massaged into the skin. It can also be added to a bath and it smells great too.
