The directions are straightforward and advise that you apply the gel to washed hair. You then section your hair and apply the gel to the roots of your hair and comb through to the ends of your hair strands. There are no harsh chemicals so you do not have to wear gloves as is recommended when you use conventional hair relaxer kits. When I first used the product, I applied the gel with my fingers. The second time I used Herbal Tame Gel Natural Relaxer I used a toothbrush to more evenly apply the gel to my roots. A small paintbrush would work as well. The point is to have an even distribution throughout your hair from your roots to the end of your hair. You then leave the gel on your hair for twenty to thirty minutes and then rinse with warm water. You can then blow dry your hair or sit under the dryer as I chose to do until dry and then proceed to use a curling iron , hot comb or other hair appliance to complete your hair styling. I use the hot water curlers (see my article entitled Bad Hair Days Begone for more information on hot water curlers) to roll my hair and then style as I desire.
I am very satisfied with the Herbal Tame Gel Natural Relaxer and find that it definitely loosens my curl pattern. I can now wash it and condition it and wear it natural if I so desire without the tight curls. Herbal Tame comes in an eight ounce jar and is reasonably priced just under ten dollars. It has a pleasant odor and is dark brown in color. The ad states that the jar can last for two to three applications but I currently wear a short hairstyle and I expect that the product will last for at least six months or more. I surmise that the longer or thicker your hair, the more product would be required. If you currently have chemically relaxed hair, Herbal Tame Gel Natural Relaxer states that it can be used to help reduce the frequency of relaxing your hair. Those who wear natural hair styles are told that it will help loosen the curl more each time you use it. Because I do not desire bone straight hair, I have found that Herbal Tame is effective for my hair type and I am completely satisfied with the product. I have not seen it in the marketplace but it is available through the Gold Medal Company located at 1 Bennington Avenue, Freeport, Long Island 11520. You may view their website at www.goldmedalhair.com for product offerings or to place an order online. I recommend Herbal Tame Herbal Gel Natural Relaxer to naturally straighten your hair without the usual risks that can occur with the usual commercially prepared hair relaxer kits.

Post a CommentI used Herbal Tame Hair Gel on my hair and it made my hair feel soft.
I have used the Herbal Tame and I love it! I usually use the dry product that come in the silver packets, I have not tried the gel. One of the great things about this product is that you can press your hair after using it and it will not sweat out as quickly as usual.
I would have been nice if you showed a picture of your hair.
I am very interested in using the Herbal tame and have been researching the product. Has anyone had any adverse effects from it's use (dry hair, breakage, skin irritation)? Does anyone have any before and after pictures? Are the effects permanent or do they wear off after a certain amount of time? I have 4a/4b hair and am wondering if it would work for me.
I tried Herbal Tame Hair Relaxer Gel and it made my hair manageable. It is a messy product. My hair is long and thick so I needed another jar. This product does not make your hair straight.
I tried Herbal Tame and did not work for me. You must have to use it 3 or more times before any real satisfactory. It does have a messy side as any other hair product use. Good luck...it is needed.
(would be nice if they told you there was a limit) catalog and tried the herbal tame gel again. The results were okay, but not as good as I remember. I wonder of the gel formulation is a bit different. The results that I loved were from the ORIGINAL herbal tame formula in the foil packets that you had to mix with water. I'm going to order the original and the gel again and do a comparison, but I'm confident that one of them will give me the results I want. If the gel didn't work for you, try the original.
I was a very tender-headed child and both of my parents never allowed me to relax my hair (now I see with good reason). When the pain I was experiencing even caused some of the salon stylists to recommend a relaxer to me, my mother started to search for something that would make my hair more manageable but not chemically compromise it.
Enter herbal tame and I can tell you back then that it made a world of difference. The stylists didn't push relaxers or any chemicals on us anymore, they just kept saying that my hair's condition was "much better".
When my hair was straightened by heat, it was gorgeous, full of shine and body with minimal breakage. Unfortunately I later on decided to give chemical texturizers a try (big mistake) and came full circle towards the end of college.
I've grown my hair out naturally again and now when straightened, it goes halfway down my back. Unfortunately, I had the manageability issue again so I found myself returning to the gold medal ca
Today I gave Herbal Tame a try. I noticed a difference after rinsing it out. My curls looked more defined and felt a little loose. I also noticed it was easier to comb and detangle my hair. I am currently transitioning my hair from a relaxer back to natural. When I blew my hair dry and flat ironed it, I immediatly noticed it got much straighter at the roots and felt lighter with lots of body and movement. So far, I am very happy with the results and will continue to use Herbal tame.
I have natural hair. I've ordered the Tame Hair Relaxer and am waiting on it in the mail. I've tried two other relaxers, naturalaxer and natural relaxer kit in a jar. Naturalaxer was a mess to use. I couldn't get it pulled through my shoulder length hair. It splattered over the walls and floor and it clogged the drain when I washed it out. It has the consistency of crushed leaves in mud. Worst of all, it left my hair dry and exactly the same. I should say their was slight straightening but it did not help me comb through my hair. Using the kit-in-a-jar I got better results. My hair works when when, but when dry it's as thick as ever. I've used about 3-4 applications. I'm told it gets better, but the difference is negligible. It's also expensive. I am hoping for better results with Tame Hair.
