Herbalism for the White Witch - Simple Herbal Talismans

Pandora Hall
A sachet, or talisman is an object carried or worn by a witch, or one who practices witchcraft, to attract certain influences to come their way like love, wealth, luck, health, strength.

For those of us who practice witchcraft or call them self a witch, it can now seem easier to obtain love, luck, wealth or power in a positive manner that harms none. Being a witch is not like what the movies portray; most witches are of a good and positive nature, only doing magic to protect themselves and those closest to them. A true white witch never casts a spell or practices magic against others in anger, nor will a true white witch try to force someone to do anything that they really do not want to do, or would not normally do. It is not the nature of the witch to force someone's hand, but merely to influence it for the better.

Love sachets, or talismans, should be made from a light pink cloth. Avoid red; it is the color of lust, not love, and using it could end up giving you some undesirable results. Love should always be a positive emotion, when it is no longer positive it is not called love, but lust, infatuation or obsession. The search for love is eternal and everlasting. There will always be stories of people facing tremendous obstacles just to find their true love.

A love talisman that I suggest you start with is made up of Basil, Chili Pepper, Cinnamon, Poppy Seeds and a bit of Thyme

Here are some other simple talisman ingredients that can be added according to your taste and their meanings. Many books on Herbalism are available online or at your local book stores or occult shop, but I suggest "Magic Of Herbalism" by Cunningham.

Love talisman ingredients commonly found in most pantries:
Basil, Brazil Nuts, Catnip, Chamomile, Chili Pepper, Cinnamon, Cloves, Dill, Ginger, Marjoram, Poppy Seeds, Saffron, Thyme, Vanilla

Love talisman ingredients from the garden:
Apple, Apricot, Beans, Bleeding Heart, Cherry, Clover, Daffodil, Fig, Gardenia, Geranium, Hibiscus, Hyacinth, Jasmine, Lavender, Lemon, Lime, Maple, Myrtle, Oleander, Orchid, Pansy, Peach,
Pear, Raspberry, Rose, Tulip, Violet

Combine any of these ingredients using as many different ones as you wish. There is no right or wrong. Each time a component is placed into your pouch, you should announce either in your mind
or out loud why you are putting that particular item into the mix. "I am adding Rose so that true love will blossom". "Vanilla for the sweetness I wish my love to possess".

Days of the week also play a role in the spell casting of any white witch. It would definitely not be beneficial to attempt a spell to strengthen your family on a Sunday or a Tuesday, while attempting a spell for fame or status would not do so well if conducted on a Saturday or a Monday. Here are the days of the week and the types of spells that should be attempted on that day.
Sunday - spells to help your creative juices to flow , leadership skills, fame.
Monday - home and dealings with the family, intuition, fertility, this day is good for doing spells to help a child or loved one to overcome a particular problem.
Tuesday - sports or any active lifestyle or vigorous activity requiring stamina, vitality, sex, action, reaction and movement, men.
Wednesday - to improve or aid in the communication skills of you or a loved one, travel, intellect.
Thursday - personal growth, luck, prosperity and wealth; any monetary dealings.
Friday - love, not lust, women, joint ventures requiring compromise and coming together.
Saturday - spells for limits, reduction in any bad habits, permanence, stability.

Moon Phases carry great influence over any dealings with magic and any skilled witch should know this chart for spells according to phases of the moon and its gravitational pull.
New Moon - beginnings
Waxing Moon - growth, attraction, increase
Full Moon - recognition, rewards, clarity, fulfillment and achievement
Waning Moon - reductions, endings
