Aloe gel, the purer the better, applied to the face, is both a moisturizer and acne fighter with it's antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Useful in both treating acne and keeping the skin smooth and moisturized, Aloe can be applied before placing on a facial lotion or makeup for day-long acne fighting.
Echinacea, taken internally, helps improve the skin by fighting the inflammation and pain of acne, and helps current outbreaks to heal more quickly. It's great to take Echinacea while applying another herb topically on the skin, so you are healing your acne inside and out.
Rosewater helps to relieve the pain and inflammation of acne, and is great to apply prior to applying a lotion or other herb to the face to battle acne. For severely painful acne breakouts, Rosewater can make the inflammation and pain that much more tolerable, and the acne less noticeable.
Calendula is a skin healer, allowing damaged skin and dry skin to repair more quickly. Perfect for applying to skin prone to acne scarring, and to skin that is irritated from other acne treatments, to allow skin to heal more properly and with less lasting damage and scars.
Witch hazel and Walnut leaf are both great astringents for the skin, with antibacterial properties to prevent bacteria from breeding into further acne issues. Even more, these herbs battle excessive oils in the skin, and can remain on the skin for day-long oil fighting strength without damaging or drying out the skin. I use Witch hazel every day, and I love it.
Lavender oil or water helps to relieve dry and irritated skin while fighting bacteria (and smelling wonderful) at the same time. A gentle little moisturizer, this herb is great for sensitive skin that needs a little acne fighting help, and for skin that is inflamed and irritated from breakouts.
