The author claims she had suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) but, being an herbalist, then cured herself with the herbal treatments mentioned in this book. Someone suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome may find it hard to believe that she truly cured herself or if that is the case that she ever had CFS at all, being that it is not a sickness known to be able to cure. Whether that is the case or not the herbs she showcases in her book are common herbs known to treat (not cure) CFS.
The book is broken down into: what is CFS?, symptoms, diagnosis, Fibromylagia and possible causes. It also goes into some of the symptom many with CFS or Fibro. including insomnia, pain and heart and brain function experience, breaking down the herbal treatments by symptoms.
I like how the book breaks down treatment by symptoms. It is helpful for someone who needs to focus on just a particular problem they need to treat most at the moment or everything, if necessary. In each section she briefly explains the symptom and the herbs that treat it and clinical study information that may have been done. It doesn't just list herbs in each section or highlight them for easy access. The necessary herbs are within the text, though the information is brief. And, there is a convenient herb reference in the back of the book with a brief explanation of the use of each herb.
Even if you do not suffer from the debilitating Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Fibromylagia this book can also be helpful for anyone who suffers just from general stress, fatigue or insomnia. The herbs she mentions, such as licorice and Siberian ginseng, are helpful to strengthen the body and are adaptogens to balance the needs of the body.
Whether you are suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and need help treating your symptoms the natural way or you are just chronically fatigued from the daily stresses of life and need a natural way to get your pep back, Herbs for Chronic Fatigue by Kathy Keville can help you. This book may be small and concise but it is packed with useful information for anyone suffering from CFS or Fibromylagia.
