When your song plays it is the first time that your husband and wedding guests will see you. This is your chance to really make a statement about who you are and shine in your moment. Taking the place of the traditional song there are many music selections available. How do you pick the best one for you?
Take a moment to consider the type of wedding you are having and other types of music that are being played during the ceremony. If you are going to play Frank Sinatra during the ceremony, consider walking down the aisle to something being played by a jazz instrument. If possible, have someone play the song for you instead of having it prerecorded. If the music in your wedding is classical, then select another classical piece. No matter what type of music you select, the music should flow together.
You may not remember any other song that was played during the ceremony, but you will remember this song forever. Select something timeless. You want to always have fond memories of this song, so current music trends might not be the best selection. If there is a song that you have enjoyed listening to for years, consider using it as your entry piece. Of course, this will only work if the style of music you normally listen to is the same as the style you have selected to use in your wedding ceremony.
One thing to consider when selecting a song is the place where you are getting married. Not all churches allow secular music to be played in their churches. Make sure to speak with the pastor of the church and make sure that certain songs are allowed. You do not want to find out at the last minute when you are walking down the aisle. If this is the case, you would have to select something without words or a Christian song. There are some beautiful versions of 'Amazing Grace' out there that just have piano music. This song is becoming a more popular selections for brides to walk down the aisle to.
If you have your heart set on walking down to the aisle to that traditional song, don't let current trends stand in your way. 'Here Comes the Bride' is still a wonderful way to start out your wedding. Just keep in mind that you are not limited to that song.
