It was definitely a show that won't be forgotten soon, as it was host to a variety of trailers for upcoming games, to some very interesting performances, and, last but least, to some excellent games that have entertained us this whole year. The winners, although some were pretty obvious, are numerous, so here is the complete list:
Game of the Year - Grand Theft Auto IV
Studio of the Year - Media Molecule, creators of LittleBigPlanet
Best PC Game - Left 4 Dead
Best Xbox 360 Game - Gears of War 2
Best PlayStation 3 Game - LittleBigPlanet
Best Wii Game - Boom Blox
Best Independent Game - World of Goo
Best Action Game - Grand Theft Auto IV
Best Shooter - Gears of War 2
Best Role Playing Game - Fallout 3
Best Handheld Game - Professor Layton and the Curious Village
Best Multiplayer Game - Left 4 Dead
Best Rhythm Game - Rock Band
Best Team Sports Game - NHL 09
Best Individual Sports Game - Shaun White Snowboarding
Best Driving Game - Burnout Paradise
Best Fighting Game - Soul Calibur IV
Best Game Based on a Movie or TV Show - Lego Indian Jones: The Original Adventures
Best Graphics - Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Best Performance by a Human Male - Michael Hollick as Niko Bellic in Grand Theft Auto IV
Best Performance by a Human Female - Debi Mae West as Meryl Silverburgh in Metal Gear Solid 4
Best Soundtrack - Rock Band
Best Original Score - Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Best Big Name in the Game, Male - Kiefer Sutherland, in Call of Duty: World at War
Best Big Name in the Game, Female - Jenny McCarthy, in Red Alert 3
Gamer God - Will Wright, creator of Spore and The Sims
All in all, some pretty interesting winners, although some might beg to differ on quite a lot of those choices, especially considering other contenders. Without a doubt, Grand Theft Auto IV deserves the distinction of game of the year, but the decision to not make Rockstar, the company behind this great title, studio of the year might be a bit strange.

Post a CommentI guess I agree with most of these choices. It's way better then the previous years when they'd pick Halo over and over again. Surprised Fable isn't up there, and they could have did better on the best xbox game/ best role playing game awards.
