Here's to You Dad, Happy Father's Day!

A lifelong friendship,
Has had its ups and downs,
But I'll never forget,
The lessons you have shown.

I was young and eager,
Mastering the arts of childhood.
Changing a bicycle tire,
Starting a campfire,
Bragging rights on the first day of school.

You gave me advice about girls,
Helped me through adolescence,
Even taught me about choices,
That could land me on either side of the fence.

I want to thank you,
For taking the time.
Taking the time to be a Dad,
Giving me the chance to say what's on my mind.

As I look back at the years gone by,
I realize the importance of your words.
Insight about what I would face tomorrow,
Responsibility of my choices yesterday,
Strength for when I have a family of my own.
