The way it is nestled in an older neighborhood gives residents privacy and security from anyone who does not know where the subdivision is. In contrast, it is relatively easy to locate with good directions, so it will be easy for your friends and family to get to if you are having guests. Although the neighborhood is a drive through community, it does not receive much traffic due to the size and the way it is laid out. It does not create any convenient short cuts for non-residents.
With two entrances, there is immediate access to St. Charles and St. Louis from the Front or Back of the subdivision. At the main entry to the community there is a section of patio homes and apartments, as well as a newly renovated "penthouse-style" multiplex condo community. The front entrance provides immediate access to Hwy 94, which leads to Interstate 70 and the new Page Extension (Hwy 364). The back entrance is off of Upper Bottom Road and runs directly to 364 or 5th street for easy access to down town St. Charles or a quick trip over the bridge to St. Louis County. Although the neighborhood is a drive through community, it does not receive much traffic due to the size and the way it is laid out. It does not create any convenient short cuts for non-residents.
Heritage Trails is an above average neighborhood with homes in the $300,000s and up. The detail on every home and careful planning of the subdivision offers a unique opportunity for new residents. Most homes in the neighborhood have large open floor plans with vaulted ceilings and the community has a very unique flavor overall. Each home rests on a large lot with substantial common area between back yards. The streets feature sidewalks along every road and the rolling hills are picturesque. On any given day throughout the year, you will see couples walking their dogs together, runners getting their exercise, or residents working in their garden.
The subdivision is located in the Francis Howell School District, one of the best school districts in the area. Bus stop routes for Francis Howell School District are scheduled to pick children up for school on the primary road at main intersections within the subdivision. The neighborhood is very safe with little threat of burglary, vandalism, and currently has no registered sex offender predators in the nearby vicinity. Any problems with security are posted on their community website and residents are asked to be watchmen for each other. There are also 3 police officers that live in the bordering neighborhood, which could contribute to the safety of the community.
