Hermann, MO 65041
Visitors who don't mind paying a little more will delight in a stay at the Hermann Hill Vineyard and Inn at 711 Wein Street. This four story brick inn is located on a high bluff and is surrounded by vineyards. This inn has beautifully decorated common areas and beautiful rooms that include both a balcony and a fireplace. Romantic decor and traditional charm combine for a warm, comfortable stay. Perks include an honors bar, DVD players, CD players, a video library, dual phone lines, hair dryers, two line phones and more. The view from the Hermann Hill Vineyard and Inn is spectacular and hiking trails are nearby. Some minimum stays are required - on weekends - and there are age limits so if you're bringing children, ask before you arrive.
In the heart of Hermann's historic district, the Vinchester Inn is another charming lodging option. Located on Third Street, the Vinchester Inn offers large, comfortable rooms. Children are allowed to stay for no additional charge. The building is quite appealing and the hosts are welcoming. A small continental breakfast is provided each morning. Some rooms have private balconies and views are lovely. During the spring and summer, Hermann blooms with beautiful flowers and many can be seen from the Vinchester Inn. The paperback library of books for guests in the lobby is another personal touch.
For those who prefer a standard lodging experience, the Hermann Motel on State Route 19 is another option. AAA approved, the Hermann Motel offers clean, basic motel lodging. Exterior corridors for both of two stories give the Hermann Motel the classic look of a standard motel. A free breakfast is provided to guests. A full scale restaurant - Lyndee's - is nearby and offers great options for lunch and dinner daily. Choose from Bratwurst sandwiches, Reuben sandwiches, or a daily special. Frog legs are sometimes offered.
Hermann is also noted for many unique bed and breakfast establishments. These vary from quaint cottages to rooms above local businesses and restored Victorian homes. Some allow children as guests; some do not. Check with the local Chamber of Commerce for a full listing if bed-and-breakfast stays are your style.
Hermann visitors may also enjoy the fine cuisine offered at the Vintage Restaurant at the Stone Hill Winery. This upscale restaurant offers traditional German foods and more. Simpler fare - breads, cheeses, wursts, and meats - can be found at Hermanhof, another winery within the city.
Area attractions - in addition to the many wine cellars - include the historic St. George Church, a shrine to Our Lady at Starkenberg, the Deustcheim State Historical Site, and a local history museum.
