Heroes Episode 3.3 Review One of Us, One of Them

Episode 3.3 One of Us, One of Them

The third episode of season three of Heroes is titled One of Us, One of Them. The episode finds Noah Bennett with a new partner, hence the titles One of Us, One of Them. Warning: my episode review contains plot spoilers.

One of Us and One of Them is another great episode of Heroes. It is jam packed with different story lines and more character development. Sylar seems to be getting the most character development. At first I wasn't too thrilled but the more I see of Sylar, played by Zachary Quinto, I am loving the character of Sylar.

Angela has decided to focus on Sylar and turn him into the man she wants him to be. Sylar seems to be willing to go along with her for now. I think he wants a sense of belonging and is intrigued on what Angela is up to. Angela is definitely a villain. She allows Sylar to feed on an unsuspecting hero. Angela also informs a shocked Noah that Sylar is his new partner. The scenes between Noah and Sylar are very, very good. Angela wants Noah to mentor Sylar and it seems like Noah is following that path. But it is later revealed, Noah is just doing this so he can find Sylar's weakness and kill him. Noah doesn't believe that Sylar can't be killed. I also think both Sylar and Claire can be killed. If their powers are centered in their adrenal gland, remove the adrenal gland or just decapitate them and separate the bodies. But that is just my theory.

Tracy Strass is another main focus of this episode. She is upset by her power and is quite confused. A concerned Nathan comes to visit her because she missed his swearing in ceremony. He tells her about Niki and she decides to track her down in New Orleans. Tracy finds a deceased Niki and her wake. In a very sad scene, Micah thinks Tracy is his mom but then quickly realizes she isn't. Tracy even views Niki's body so there is now no doubt that Tracy and Niki are two completely different people. Micah helps Tracy find out that Tracy and Niki were born at the same hospital by the same doctor, Dr. Zimmerman. She tracks him down at his home and he mistakenly calls her a different name and then saws something like oh you are the one from New York. Ahhh, so we are clued in that Niki and Tracy are clones. Clones, how original (not). The series has so jumped the shark if they decide to introduce aliens.

Hiro and Ando are also featured throughout the episode. I love the interaction between the two characters. I am glad that Hiro is still his happy adventurous self and hasn't turned into a hardened cynic yet. Hiro still loves his comic book references. The duo does their best to outsmart Daphne but she ends up with the second half of the formula. Daphne is perplexing. She doesn't appear to be evil, just a little greedy, and she is very funny.

Overall, the episode was excellent. I am liking how the writers are developing Sylar. I also hope they show more Daphne. I am also like the direction they are taking Claire. Her family is trying to treat her as a normal seventeen year old and she is the only one who seems to know that isn't possible. It is about time for her to develop another ability and she needs to learn how to kick some butt. I give the episode 5 out of 5 stars. I would actually watch it again, just to see the interaction between Sylar and Noah.
