I Am Become Death is a confusing episode that raises more questions about the Heroes and Villains. Future Peter takes Present Future to four years into the future to show him that the world is a terrible place and needs saving. Present Future is a bit confused because New York looks pretty normal until he sees people flying all over the place. The formula has gotten out and anyone can buy an ability for the right price. As Future Peter is trying to explain why this is bad Claire shoots and kills Future Peter. Present Peter manages to escape and learns from a disfigured Mohinder where Sylar is. Peter now thinks he needs Sylar's power of seeing how things work in order to save the world.
The future world is very confusing because at first Claire appears to be bad because after all she killed Peter but it turns out Future Peter is actually the villain (in the governments eyes). Apparently Future Peter is trying to correct some bad mistakes he made. The world seems to be happy with the powers but Future Peter still thought the widespread distribution of abilities is what causes the world to end. At this point of the episode by boyfriend gave up trying to understand the episode and left the room. Yeah I can understand his confusion but I think the writers are trying to point out that the lines between good and evil are very grey. Future Claire seems to be unhappy but she still doesn't want Peter to change the future (her future). Claire is working with supposed villains so exactly who is good and who is evil is very unclear in the future.
Peter tracks down Sylar down in the future and is shocked to learn Sylar is now going by Gabriel and is a happy father raising his son, Noah. What a twist. Gabriel has suppressed his power and warns Peter that the power is a hunger that is very hard to control. Peter is persistent and Gabriel lets him acquire his power. I found the scenes with Zachary Quinto playing a good Gabriel very odd to watch since I got used to the evil Sylar. Unfortunately, Claire, Daphne, and Knox track down Peter to Gabriel's house and kill his son. Gabriel is very upset and has a nuclear meltdown, which results in 200,000 people dying. Claire blames it on Peter but really it was more her fault then his. After letting his new ability take control and kill future Nathan, Peter transports back to present day to confront Sylar.
There are a couple of side storylines involving Tracy and Nathan, Hiro and Ando, and Matt but I think the most intriguing storyline is the one between Peter and Sylar. The episode covers so much that I feel like I missed some important clues. I plan on watching it again before next week's new episode. Yeah, I found the episode confusing but I still enjoyed it immensely. Sylar is now becoming my favorite character but only because Zachary Quinto plays him so well. I give the episode 4 out of 5 stars.
