Heroes Episode 3.5 Review Angels and Monsters

The fifth episode of season three of Heroes aired on October 13, 2008. The episode is titled Angels and Monsters. The episode deals with Claire's quest to capture villains and Hiro's quest to save the world again. Warning: my episode review contains plot spoilers.

Claire targets her first villain but quickly learns not everything is black and white. Stephan Canfield creates vortexes but isn't a bad guy. He accidentally killed his neighbor so he was locked up in level 5 two years ago. All he wants to do is find his wife and kids. Claire decides to help him but Noah and Sylar arrive unexpectedly and a panicked Stephan creates a vortex and runs off. Claire is ticked that her dad is working with baddie Sylar. Sylar appears to be trying to be good but no one (but his mommy) appears to be giving him a second chance. Definitely not Noah because he tries to talk Stephan into killing Sylar but Stephen doesn't want to become a "monster" and kills himself instead.

Suresh has totally turned into a villain. Apparently the writers watched "The Fly" one too many times and Suresh is cocooning victims onto his the wall of his lab, including Maya. Maya really has bad taste in men, first Sylar and now Suresh.

Hiro does his best in appearing to be a villain and "kills" Ando much to Daphne's shock. Daphne is recruiting villains for Linderman but she doesn't appear to be a villain herself, she is just a thief who is being blackmailed. Hiro of course didn't kill Ando, just a set-up for Knox's benefit. Hiro is now in and is sent after Matt's pre-cog. Knox meanwhile has captured Adam Monroe and is taking him to the new main villain, Arthur Petrelli played by Robert Forster. Yep, Peter's dad is now the new big baddie that he will have to stop. Arthur is near death hooked to various tubes but manages to order people around through telepathy. Linderman really is dead and the Linderman images are just thoughts implanted by Maury Parkman.

Peter almost kills his mom because he can't control his new power but Sylar steps in and saves his mom. Angela has Peter put in coma for now. Unfortunately she gets the same treatment when Arthur somehow appears to her and puts her into a coma so she can't see the future anymore. She is shocked to see her husband alive but vows to stop him before he disables her.

Angels and Monsters is a very intriguing episode. I like how Sylar is trying to be good but yet he can't resist messing with Noah Bennet. I give the episode 4 out of 5 stars.
