Heroes Episode 3.6 Episode Review: Dying of the Light

3.6 Dying of the Light

Jennifer Sapa
The sixth episode of the third season of Heroes aired on October 20th, 2008. The episode is titled Dying of the Light. Dying of the Light centers around Claire saving Meredith, Daphne meeting Matt Parkman, and Suresh's continued evil descent. Warning; my episode review contains plot spoilers.

Dying of the Light has some major shockers, including the death of Adam by Arthur. Apparently Arthur has the ability to steal powers which results in the death of Adam and the healing of Arthur. Arthur, now fully healed, is ready to get his evil plot rolling.

Daphne recruits more villains and shows her good side by talking Matt out of joining Arthur's group. Matt really just wants to save Daphne but she resists his help and runs off. Daphne event tries to recruit Sylar but he turns her down. Yep Sylar really is trying to be good. He releases Peter in hopes that Peter can help Angela out of her coma. Peter tries but all he sees is the DNA symbol that represents Arthur's group. Peter knocks out Sylar and runs off to confront the Pinehurst Company. He is shocked to see his father and makes the mistake of hugging Arthur, which allows Arthur to steal Peter's powers.

My favorite storyline is Claire and her mom Sandra. Claire runs off to save Meredith but Sandra insists on going by reciting the companies main principle "One of us, one of them." Claire tries to free Meredith from the puppeteer Eric Doyle but she ends up being captured with her mom. With all three ladies tied up, Eric decides to play a little Russian roulette. This game works to Claire's benefit since everyone but Eric knows she can't die. Sandra ends up shooting Claire which releases her from Eric's hold and allows her to knock him out. Noah is called and carts Eric off. Noah is very proud of his daughter but she gives him the cold shoulder. Teenagers are so temperamental.

I like the character of Daphne but she is a bit confusing. She works for the bad guys, obviously feels bad about it, but not enough to help anyone. When recruiting Suresh, she sees that he has Nathan and Tracey tied up and instead of helping, she just expresses her disappointment. Yeah, she doesn't want to get her hands dirty, not even to help someone.

Dying of the Light is another interesting episode that is moving the plot along nicely. I can't wait to see how the two organizations face off next. I give the episode 5 out of 5 stars.
