Heroes Medical Bills

In the Line of Duty Injuries

MJ Wright
President Obama wants to send our Military Reserves to battle, and if they get hurt, the government does not want to pay for their medical bills?? HELLOO!! Does anyone else see the wrong in this?

As Americans, we pride ourselves in taking care of our own. This country has gone bonkers. First, we are told how to raise our kids, then how to live, and so on. Now we are told that all of those brave men and women who have given up everything (single parents must give up rights to their child(ren) when they enter the military) to fight for every American, live or dead; must use other health insurance! They give us freedom, peace, honor, and pride and we can live without the fear of some terrorist(s), who has a grudge on someone, some place, or a race, or the politics of our country, to come and show us a much different way of life.

Terrorists come in all shapes and sizes, numbers, races, and cultures. Some are even 'home-grown'. You don't know where they are coming from or why. All you know is that they want revenge for something and we are the casualties. The Military protects us from that, or at least tries. They can't be everywhere at every minute.

Every American should give something to every Military person. Past, present, and future; without them, we would have nothing but chaos. They are the ultimate heroes. Then comes the Firemen (Firefighters), Police (all branches), and all medical personnel. We should give them anything they need to protect us from harm, to keep us with the luxuries we all have, and the futures that we all want that would not be there with out them.

I say 'you want it, you got it', and the first people in line to give them all of those things (that they do not currently have), should be The President and everyone in his campaign. What do you think all the Military men and women are thinking about when they heard this? Come on people, do you really think they want to protect our country when our leader does not back them? Or, give them the tools to fight and survive out there? How about when they are told that if you are in the Reserves, and we call you up to go fight, you get hurt, but we will not be paying the bill. Thanks and good luck! What the hell is that?

On the other hand, maybe this is exactly what President Obama had in mind when he talked about cutting funds. Our Military did not't have enough to begin with, and now this. I don't know how I should file this... in my stupidity file, or smart terrorist file.

I say smart terrorist because it would be smart for the bad guy to do. Get everyone to follow you and then brake them down little by little until nothing is left; oh wait, that's already been done! Excuse me, I did not't mean to say that history is repeating itself or anything. I wouldn't want to imply that this country might turn Nazi, or that President Obama is that kind of leader.

The following three passages are quotes from CNSNews.com:

"Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), told Shinseki (Veteran Affairs) during the Senate hearing last week, "Our vets already paid, and proposals that balance the VA budget on their backs are -- as far as I'm concerned -- dead on arrival." "I believe that veterans with service-connected injuries have already paid by putting their lives on the line for our safety. When our troops are injured while serving this country, we should take care of those injuries completely. We shouldn't nickel and dime them with their care.""

"House Veterans Affairs Committee Rep. Michael Michaud (D-Me.) said: "If that is in the budget, I will not be supporting the budget. It is unconscionable and is an insult to our veterans who've been hurt overseas."

"Signatories to the Feb. 27 letter to the president included the leaders of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled Veterans of America, Blinded Veterans Association, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, Jewish War Veterans of the USA, Military Officers Association of America, and Military Order of the Purple Heart of the USA, Paralyzed Veterans of America and Vietnam Veterans of America."

Why would the government want to put that bill on the lap of their FT employer? Was it work related? By that I mean, to their FT job. If they got hurt at their regular job, they would get Workman's Comp to pay for it. If they get hurt at their PT job (US Government Property), then the US should pay for it. You can not ask or tell someone to die for you if you are not even honorable enough to pay for it.

The VA needs more money to take care of the mass of vets that need their help. We have too many homeless and/or uninsured vets out there dieing needlessly. We don't need this extra burden that would ultimately hurt them more in the long run. Yes, give them the extra money, but do not say - we will not pay for in the line of duty injuries any more!

Before President Obama was President, he made this statement: "When we do send our men and women into harm's way, we must also clearly define the mission, prescribe concrete political and military objectives, seek out the advice of our military commanders, evaluate the intelligence, plan accordingly, and ensure that our troops have the resources, support, and equipment they need to protect themselves and fulfill their mission," he told the Chicago Foreign Affairs Council in April 2007. I, like my family, are proud patriots, but we have hung our heads in shame more than once for things like this. How can you put a price tag on freedom, our kids' future, or death? You all know the quote from 9/11, "All Gave Some...Some Gave All!" I have not forgotten the events of 9/11 and the history books in school give our kids a start on learning all of the wars we have had and why. How the government handled it, and maybe how the military was thrown to the wolves.

I will end this with the remembrance of all those who have fallen in the line of duty and illness due to the lack of United States medical help.
