The Heroes premiere tonight begins Volume 5 in the show's history. Volumes 2, 3 and 4 had well documented troubles and eye-rolling twists, making this Heroes season premiere a little less anticipated than the others. But the fans are ready for another shot anyway, as hopes for this premiere and volume are tentatively high.
Heading into the fifth Heroes premiere episode, Sylar has been turned into the late Nathan, Claire is heading to college, and Ali Larter is back in yet another form. Tonight, the two-hour premiere promises to put Claire in the spotlight at college, while havoc is raised in the form of a mysterious traveling circus troupe, led by popular Prison Break villain Robert Knepper.
The Heroes premiere episodes are rarely disasters, as they usually give fans some hope that a new volume will be strong. It's usually by the middle of a volume that things have gone south in the last several years, as the show is still living off its former Season 1 glory.
Tonight's season premiere isn't even the most anticipated two-hour premiere of the season. Heroes has to share the spotlight from 8 to 10 p.m. with the openers of House and Dancing With the Stars. With those two popular shows opening big, Heroes will have to show some big improvement in order to make it's mark tonight.
As usual, Sylar and Claire have most of the attention around them to start the new season. Zachary Quinto is still around, despite his movie start fame from Star Trek this summer, as Nathan/Sylar begins to suspect his true identity. As for Claire, there has been a lot of speculation over whether she will get too close to her female college roommate later in the year.
The usual powers, suspicious special effects, deaths that aren't really deaths, Mohinder narration, and apocalyptic plots are set to begin again tonight, as the Heroes premiere seeks Redemption starting at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
