Heroes Season 1: The Greatest Hope for Humanity

Ghostbox
So as many of you have seen the show "Heroes" over the past few years, I'd like to go through and give a quick review of each "Heroes" season and to start that off we're going to begin with season 1. If you are new to "Heroes", I'll try not to give away too many spoilers and just kind of give a synopsis of the episodes so you can get your feet wet and know why those who watch "Heroes" absolutely love it.

The Beginning

The whole premise of "Heroes" is that regular people have been extraordinary powers and have been forced to cope with these powers and maintain a normal life. In the first season of "Heroes", the special abilities of heroes in the story are brought about by an eclipse. The draw of the story is established with regular people and not some super spandex comic characters that lead unrealistic lives. The story revolves around a senator, a cheerleader, a male nurse, a police officer, an office worker, and many others. What makes this great is that we can relate to these characters. Sure we all love Batman, but who can relate to a millionaire with unlimited resources who stalks the nights hunting for bad guys? This story looks more into a realistic view of super heroes. With that said, the first season of "Heroes" develops the initial cast of characters and leads them down the road of exploring and understanding their new abilities. At the same time we also see side plots with The Company, an organization developed to track, catalog, and capture people with abilities. Another side plot is with Mohinder Suresh, whose father develop a method of locating special people through analyzing genetic structures. All of these story plots coincide with one another to create a complex and compelling story.

The Heroes, Villains, and Character Acting

One terrific thing about "Heroes" is that it also explores the dark side of the spectrum and deals with villains as well. I mean, what good is a super hero without an equally adept villain? In the first season, the main villain that is developed throughout the story is named Sylar. Sylar's ability is odd being that he has a thirst for acquiring other special abilities which makes him very powerful and dangerous. He can steal abilities by looking into the brain of other special people (which often means killing them) to know how they work. The Company in the series also is a main opponent to the heroes in the first season. So what about the good guys? We have Claire, an indestructible cheerleader. There is also Peter, who can absorb the abilities of other special people by being around them. We also have Matt Parkman, who can read minds and another main hero is a Japanese man named Hiro, who can bend time and space. There are also several other heroes and villains like Nathan, Jessica, Isaac, Linderman, Noah, etc. but you'll see them as you watch more. With all these different characters, I have to say that I find the narration and acting to be very well done and easy to watch.

What's a Hero Tale Without An Epic Ending?

Now that you know a little bit about the characters, you will definitely want to know that the season will come to a close with a really epic ending and you will not be disappointed. You'll get to see how all of it comes together and you'll be begging for the next season. I've currently seen every episode of "Heroes" to date and without a doubt the first season is a great way of kicking this hit series off. You absolutely must watch this season start to finish (you can't skip around the episodes). So what are you waiting for, go out and watch "Heroes" tonight!
