Heroes Season 3 Episode 1

Season 3 of Heroes premiered September 22, 2008 after a one hour countdown show. The new season begins with a volume entitled Villains.

The show begins with Peter in the future with Claire. Peter says he is going to go back and that he can fix it (we don't know what), but Claire does not believe him and shoots at him. Peter stops time and takes the gun before he returns to the present. In the present, Peter uses the gun to shoot Nathan in the scene that ended season 2.

Next, viewers see Hiro in his new office at Yamagato Industries. Ando congratulates him on his newly gained wealth, but Hiro is not satisfied, he wants a new quest. His family lawyer soon arrives and delivers a DVD his father recorded before his death. The message tells Hiro not to open his father's safe because it contains half of a formula that could destroy the world if it falls into the wrong hands. Hiro then opens the safe and the paper inside is taken from him almost immediately. The thief is a new "hero" who is able to move very fast.

Meanwhile, Claire is about to leave her house when Sylar arrives. Claire tries to escape, but ultimately fails and Sylar removes her scalp. However, he does not kill her, he somehow gains the regenerative power and Claire remains alive.

Mya continues to plead with Mohinder to help her lose her power, but he is not interested. She becomes angry and Mohinder discovers that her power comes from adrenaline, not her blood. He uses his discovery to create a injection which he believes will give powers to anyone, but the specific power will be determined by their blood type.

Nathan awakes after a quick recovery from his gunshot wounds and believes that God saved him. He thinks that maybe all the heroes are angels put on Earth to do God's work. This explanation for his powers causes him to reconsider revealing them to the public, so Peter lets him live.

Mrs. Petrelli, is not happy with Peter's choices, especially since it is not actually Peter. It is an impostor who has trapped Peter on floor five of the paper company's villain containment center. She informs him that his changes have not improved the future only changed it.

Hiro travels to the future to see what kinds of problems are caused because he lost the formula and discovers that Ando betrays him and steals the formula from him. He returns to the present and tells Ando that they have to find the formula.

Mr. Linderman reveals to Nathan that he, not God, was responsible for the quick recovery. However, the news reports on Nathan's recent revelation catch the attention of Tracy, who viewers know as Niki from the first two seasons, and the governor. They make him their choice for something not yet known.

Mohinder decides to inject himself with his new discovery. He later awakes to discover that he has super-strength, which he uses to defend himself against a robbery. In the background there is a image of the world being destroyed painted on a building.
