Recently, I had the opportunity to eat Hershey's Birthday Cake Premium Ice Cream and I'm very glad that I partook of the opportunity. This fun-to-eat ice cream is loaded with swirls of frosting and confetti cake pieces and really does taste like birthday cake. Presented here, in an effort to assist the consumer, is one food writer's product review of Hershey's Birthday Cake Premium Ice Cream.
Size
The net weight of the standard sized container of Hershey's Birthday Cake Premium Ice Cream is one pint (16 ounces). It's nice to see that Hershey's is still packaging its ice cream in actual one pint containers. So many other ice cream brands have cut the size of their containers by a few ounces.
According to the product's nutrition facts chart, the container holds four 1/2 cup servings.
Price
The retail price that I recently paid for one 16 ounce container of Hershey's Birthday Cake Premium Ice Cream at a Hartford, Connecticut corner grocery store was approximately $1.99.
This price seems very reasonable to me. This is a premium ice cream and is a high quality product. Other brands' one pint ice cream containers usually retail for much higher prices.
Texture
This ice cream maintains a very smooth and creamy texture that one would hope to find in a premium ice cream. The ice cream feels great on the tongue and offers an overall pleasing mouth - feel.
Nutritional Facts
Hershey's Birthday Cake Premium Ice Cream contains 190 calories, with 90 calories from fat, per 1/2 cup serving. This ice cream also contains 6 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams trans fat, 10 grams total fat, 35 mg of cholesterol, 60 mg of sodium, 21 grams total carbohydrates, 0 grams of dietary fiber, 18 grams of sugars and 3 grams of protein, per 1/2 cup serving.
Taste / Flavor
As soon as I saw Hershey's Birthday Cake Premium Ice Cream in the freezer case at a local grocery store, I decided to purchase a container of it. Like many other people, I have always enjoyed eating birthday cake, particularly with ice cream on top of it. This is the only brand of birthday cake flavored ice cream I have ever seen and the illustration of the enclosed product on the front label really whet my appetite for it.
Does Hershey's Birthday Cake Premium Ice Cream really taste like birthday cake? For the most part, yes. The cake flavored ice cream is criss-crossed with swirls of blue frosting and confetti cake pieces that make the item taste a lot like real birthday cake.
While this ice cream does taste pretty sweet, its sugar content is actually lower than some other varieties of ice cream. On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this product a rating of nine.
Packaging
Hershey's Birthday Cake Premium Ice Cream is packaged in a standard type, round cardboard ice cream container. The attractive, largely blue front label features an appetizing illustration of the ice cream and the rear label lists all relevant ingredient and nutritional information. The container is easy to open and it also re-closes effectively.
Overall Rating
All things considered, Hershey's Birthday Cake Premium Ice Cream is a unique and flavorful variety of ice cream. Like every other Hershey's brand ice cream product, their birthday cake flavored ice cream is priced significantly lower than most other brands, although it is just as good as any of the higher priced brands.
If your local convenience store, grocery store or supermarket does not stock and sell this item, try asking the manager if it can be ordered. Chances are, you'll be glad you did. Hershey's Birthday Cake Premium Ice Cream is highly recommended by this food writer.
