Hershey's Ice Cream Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Cup

Consumer Product Review

Thomas J McCabe
On a regular basis, I purchase and eat a variety of Hershey's Ice Cream single serving products. Yesterday, I tried the Hershey's Ice Cream Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Cup for the first time and I'm glad that I did so.

Hershey's Ice Cream is not affiliated with Hershey's Chocolates, they are separate companies. Their high quality products are inexpensively - priced and often stocked and sold at small grocery and convenience stores. Their chocolate chip ice cream sandwich has inspired me to write a review of it.

Presented here, in an effort to assist the consumer, is an article which reviews and examines Hershey's Ice Cream Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Cup.

Size
The net weight of the standard sized container of Hershey's Ice Cream Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Cup is 6.5 fluid ounces. Although one cookie / container counts as one serving, one half of a cookie was enough to satisfy my appetite and sweet cravings. In physical size, the container measures approximately 3.5" x 2.25" .

Price
The regular retail price charged for one 6.5 ounce Hershey's Ice Cream Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Cup at Hartford, Connecticut area convenience stores and food markets is roughly $1.39. This price seems very reasonable to me. Similar, name brand ice cream / cookie sandwiches usually retail for significantly more than this price.

Texture
Several different, and pleasing textures are present in the Hershey's Ice Cream Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Cup. The chocolate chip cookie is soft, yet firm. When I took the first bite of the item, it seemed quite hard, but as the seconds passed, the cookie seemed to get softer.

The vanilla ice cream that is sandwiched between two chocolate chip cookies is smooth and creamy. Its consistency is firmer than that of soft serve ice cream, but not quite as hard as most regular types of ice cream. The vanilla ice cream is dotted with an abundance of real chocolate chips, which add another dimension of texture to the sandwich.

When these textures come together, they form a very appealing product that offers a pleasing mouth feel.

Taste / Flavor
When I recently purchased a Hershey's Ice Cream Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Cup, it was by accident. I didn't have my reading glasses on when I saw the container in the freezer case at a local bodega. Truthfully, I thought I was purchasing some type of ice cream sundae.

When I looked at the container at home later, I was surprised to see that I had actually purchased an ice cream cookie sandwich. Previously, I had eaten two other brands of chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches and thought they were okay, but not really above average in flavor or texture.

As soon as I tasted the Hershey's Ice Cream Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Cup, my opinion of chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches changed. Even though this sandwich costs less than similar, name brand sandwiches, I think its overall flavor is better than the other varieties.

With the other brands, the predominant flavor that I tasted was that of the cookies. With this brand of sandwich, the flavors of the different components seem more well balanced. On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this product a rating of 9.25.

Packaging
Hershey's Ice Cream Chocolate Chip Cookie in a cup is packaged in a round, largely orange cardboard container. The container features an easy-to-remove lid and a covered hole in the bottom of the cup, which, when pressed upon, pushes the ice cream sandwich out of the cup. Having the sandwich in a cup gives consumers the option of holding the sandwich in their hands, or eating it with a spoon in the cup.

Overall Rating
All things considered, Hershey's Ice Cream Chocolate Chip Cookie is a large and tasty frozen treat that tastes better to me, than similar higher priced, name brand sandwiches. This reasonably priced product is normally stocked and sold at small grocers and convenience stores across America and is highly recommended by this food writer.
