HEY, Hollywood, the Media and Musicians. Where's the BUZZ About BENEFITS for IOWA FLOOD VICTIMS?
The Humanitarians Must All Be on Vacation
What are Hollywood and all those famous musicians waiting for? We have people in tents 2 miles from our door? Are they waiting for people down river NOT to heed the warnings and get drowned or stranded on their houses? Are they waiting for dead bodies to pile up? Are they waiting for Iowans to stand in front of cameras cursing the President and wailing for help? Boy, if that's what you are waiting for, you'll wait a long time.
I'm an Iowan. My feet are dry.. all Praise to God. So, I will say what is on the minds of a lot of Iowans that are busy trying to hold their families together right now. These flood victims are no less worthy of help than New Orleans residents. To totally ignore them is like an elephant in the room. Why are you ignoring us? Are we too humble? Are we too unworthy because we help ourselves and each other? Are we the wrong class? The wrong color? The wrong location? Are we too quiet? Or are we not something that you can exploit politically and monetarily? Hmmm.
In a quick five minute search, I found a list of no less than 12 benefits for Katrina victims. They were listed on MTV.com.
Kanye West helped host a simulcast benefit from New York on NBC, MSNBC, CNBC and PAX..remember? 18 "artists" performed musical numbers. West said "George Bush doesn't care about black people". Where are ya West and company? Don't you care about Midwesterners?
Jay Leno will do 2 shows in Vegas to benefit Iowans..thank you Jay we appreciate it!
Yep .. Jay Leno and ? Hey, Dixie Chicks, Dave Matthews and the rest of ya..we can draw you maps and give ya directions!
IF the situations had been reversed, and Iowa had gotten all the benefits and New Orleans had received nil, yikes. Racism would have been bellowed from every corner. Hollywood, the media and Musicians would be rioting in the streets along with New Orleans residents.
Alas, the greased wheel gets no fund raisers or benefits. Iowans and the rest of the flood victims from 2008 will hope fema helps out and they will pick up their lives and go on. Their neighbors, families and communities will help all they can. It's a sure bet that Hollywood, the Media and Musicians missed the bus. The great humanitarians must be on vacation.

Post a CommentI was grinning as I read this, thinking..."wow, how true"...makes me super proud of our state and our fellow Iowans...cleverly written and oh so true....thanks for the good read.
I heard on the radio that the funds donated to benefit New Orleans were far in excess of what is needed there now. On that same radio broadcast I also heard that those funds will be used by the Democrats to fund their shortage to pay for their convention. If this is true, why not send the excess New Orleans money to Iowa and other states in need to help out? If this is true, why aren't the people that donated to the New Orleans fund up in arms about it? Those donations were given to help people in need. Where is the outcry?
Maybe because the magnitude of Katrina was much larger, more people - human beings, regardless of skin color- perished. About 1000 times more people, but no one will ever know for certain how many people died. FEMA has gotten better about helping, something that they did quite poorly for Katrina. Anyway, enough of trying to point out logic.

George Bush hates white people!
Good post. It certainly shows the mindset of the majority of Hollywood and the left in general. I hope people are paying attention.
I have been wondering the very same thing. Why don't we hear all the same hoopla as surrounded Katrina?
