HG Wells on Google - the Man and His Many Women

HG Wells was a Married Man with Many Women on the Side. He Fathered Many Children

Today is HG Wells Birthday, September 21. He was born on this day in 1866. Was all the UFO hoopla that Google has been giving us on their search page leading up to this? HG Wells is the author of the great science fiction piece, "War of the Worlds," which is what Google is apparently depicting with the UFO's taking away the town. They are also taking apart the word ,Google. Well's birthday may be the reason for the three episodes of UFO's appearing on Google. Is it that simple? I don't think so. I think Google has something else it is trying to tell us, but only time will tell. The word, "Google", has left in a shambles is barely recognizable with just a few remnants remaining. This is the biggest clue yet.

HG Wells was a man ahead of his time which was apparent in his writing. He was also ahead of his time in his private life. He conducted his personal life as if he were a man who lived in this century.

In 1891 HG Wells married for the first time. His wife, Isabel Mary Wells, was also his first cousin. This marriage produced no children and lasted only three years. Wells became infatuated with one of his students, Amy Catherine Robbins, and left his wife to be with her. He married Amy in 1895 and fathered two children in this marriage. They had two sons, Gip (George Phillip) in1901, and Frank Richard in 1903.

Wells was not monogamous in this marriage and had many flings, some with other noted names of the times. Margaret Sanger, an American birth control activist was one of the many women that Wells had affairs with. The novelist Elizabeth von Arnim was another liaison of his. He fathered a daughter in 1909, Anna-Jane, with yet another writer, Amber Reeves. He had been introduced to Amber by her parents at a function for the Fabian Society.

Still making the rounds in the literary world, Wells fathered another child, a son Anthony West, with yet another novelist, Rebecca West. West was a feminist activist and also twenty six years younger than Wells. Moura Budberg, who was a countess and a socialite, was another conquest of Wells. Odette Keun, a young well known socialite of the times was another woman to have an affair with Wells.

Amy Catherine, Wells wife, remained married to him even when learning about a few of his affairs. The two remained man and wife until her death in 1927.
